Bill Maher's New Rules segment was exceptional this Friday. He called out Trump and the Republicans in general for doing things no Democrat would get away with using examples in the mode of Jon Stewart.
Bill Maher noted in this sad but hilarious excerpted video, that having the Republican (R) next to any politician's name seem to provide immunity from bad behavior, unpatriotism, and much more.

(16,423 posts)Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska). A legendary figure in the Senate, very well-known.
Yet, when he was arrested on corruption-charges, the Fox News chyron reported on him as Ted Stevens (D).

(62,270 posts)This is why we lose. We actually let the perfect be the enemy of the good, instead of keeping an eye on it and having it as a goal.
They allow the atrocious to be the friend of their own evil. And turn a blind eye to it. Without any ethical goals whatsoever.

(62,270 posts)A good chunk of the left actually believed that Hillary Clinton was evil incarnate and no better than Trump. That's the batshit crazy we don't need nor should we accommodate.

has persisted are two-fold. For starters, Republicans are the authoritarian party, so their base is typically more concerned with teams and nationalistic bullshit than idealism and heavy mental lifting.
But second, this is the corporate media's game. Big money makes out when Republicans win...its a fricken giveaway, so no surprise, over time the media personnel that these stations and papers have accrued are more and more "centrist," and less and less pit-bulls when it comes to getting at the underlying, or even blatant, facts.
