WHATEVER he does now, this is what he SHOULD be doing. . . Just because he might be one of the few Repigs who pushes back, he's still a gas bag who took that Palin idiot as his running mate.

Nevertheless, I think it's okay to hope for something more from him. Just as long as you realize that you will probably be disappointed in the end.

He still has the potential to be a hero and a patriot if he chooses to. I just wouldn't hold my breath waiting.

Heading towards authoritarianism. But it is hard for one man to defy his party. We need to encourage him to do what he knows is right. Positive reinforcement is called for. At his age he may say to himself, "fuck the party, I want history to remember me as the man who saved America".

This is in all probality his last years in the senate (and on the planet), so if there's ever a time to get on the America first train this is it.

When he defended Obama during his campaign he took the high road and I think there was a level of respect for Obama most republicans don't have. He should be given credit for that.

I was actually impressed by that. I think that what I have disliked about him the most is that he always was so angry when he was campaigning against Obama. He frightened me.

though he's been known to disappoint time and again. Perhaps at this point in his life, he has nothing to lose, so why not just be honest and principled, something he was once known for. This undoubtedly will be his last term as senator, surely he'd like to leave a positive legacy.

I think he may stick to his guns on this one.

in this particular instance it serves our purpose. He was a real asshole to Pres. Obama, and he openly stated that, if Hillary won, none of her nominations for SC would be voted on or go through.

Same with Lindsey.

ETA: and don't forget, he brought us failin' Palen.

Talk is cheap, and mccains is worthless. He's got a long history of talking a reasonable game, but then voting for everything the crazier elements of the republican party asks for, unless it specifically involves torturing prisoners of war.

And odds are he just won his last reelection campaign, so now it is all about legacy. Remains to be seen what he does with his time.
