Took notes for you guys on what Sen. Wyden (Senate Intel) said about Russia/Trump in town hall today

Today I went to a town hall with Senator Wyden who is on the Senate Intelligence Committee. It was in a high school gym and there must have been a couple thousand people there. He spent 90 minutes answering questions. Every two to three questions was about Russia. He got a number of standing ovations.

I wrote down what he said so I could share it with you:

“There is nothing more important on my plate than getting to the bottom of this because it goes right to the heart of the legitimacy of the American government. I am prepared to use every single tool I have as a United States senator to get to the bottom of this. This will NOT be swept under the rug. (He said this several times emphatically, to standing ovations.)

I am insisting on subpoena power, open hearings, and am continuing to push to declassify information. You have a right to know this information now. They say it compromises sources and methods to have open hearings. It is baloney that you can’t have open hearings without compromising sources and methods. Don’t ever let a politician tell you that you have a choice between security or liberty. You’re entitled to both. “

I feel so much better after this town hall; so much more hopeful. He kept emphasizing that we just keep pushing and working and be persistent. He said the marches, etc. are making a difference. I know many of you do not have people whom you feel represent you, but he is working for all of us, and I wanted to share this to hopefully provide you something hopeful.

For those of you who didn’t see this thread, here is more on Wyden and Russia:

I live east of the Mississippi. My Senators are from each party. But coal is involved.

I question their patriotism for not questioning pRezident dRumpf. You do NOT flirt with or do business with the russians as President of these United States.

I am a loyal American, in opposition to pRezident dRumpf and any republican not questioning dRumpfs motives.

He's one - there are a few of them.

For those of us in benighted Red states or districts, these progressive voices from elsewhere speak for us.

I am deeply grateful to Senator Wyden for his hard work, his dedication to American values, and his bulldog determination to get at the truth. We are up against some dark forces, and we need his strength and expertise.

and it's gonna be a Republican POTUS regardless of any vote count.: getting down to very obscure possibilities most of us have never heard of, ahead of the winner of the popular vote. We've stuck our two cents into elections in other countries, but it's way past time our elections were investigated by a fair, outside source. The 2000 election was close and the liberals/democrats gave it up. This time, it's just outrageous. Having worked in politics, locally, for years, I've learned that even local Republicans have outrageous tricks. I live in a college town, and there was a whole Republican effort going on to direct students to the wrong polling places and misleading them as to their eligibility

he has pulled a number of all-nighters with cabinet confirmation hearings and votes being scheduled at weird hours - his overall attitude is positive and focused on what can be done, and I took that away as a model. I see him lifting others up. I have never heard him in person before and he was quite impressive. There was a lot of love and appreciation in that room today. It was clear that he really cares about people and about America, and I left feeling like we have a Jedi knight working for us.

here in NC Burr and Tillis apparently are refusing to meet with the people. Here's quote from Durham Democratic Women on FB from the 13th:

This is what happen to four NC mothers with young children.

This is how 4 of us mothers were treated today when we went to go and talk to our state senator Thom Tillis about the money he received to SELL OUT....clearly we were quite intimidating with our babies in tow... (sarcasm)

He wouldn't even meet with us, and sent federal marshalls and a completely unfriendly aide down to intimidate us.

They didn't take anything that we brought to give to senator Tillis, and the marshalls even followed us outside- and harassed our children for playing.

I'm sorry, but last time I checked, he works for us!!!!

If you can't take the heat get yo' ass out the kitchen
we're on a mission!

SHARE AND GET THE WORD OUT~ FOR SHAME MR.TILLIS!

...let's see what he does and what his colleagues who agree with him do. i say this because there are just as many people who will resist uncovering and releasing the truth and they have tools too, e.g., majorities in both houses. this will almost certainly be a huge fight. so, he can try, but will he win. or will we end up with some compromise that changes nothing fundamentally?

...if the system will not allow it to be done, what good is it? please pardon my cynicism, but it is hard-earned. the two party system is a farce. If a real investigation gets accomplished, people are punished, and some semblance of balance is restored, it will not be because the system is good, but because millions of feet on the street forced the hand of the system.
