Before we start picking people for the 2020 campaign we need to

get a handle on what the economic will be like and how well we will do in 2018.

Also our candidate will have support a "Universal Basic Income" program to offset the lack of jobs due to Automation.

1. No, the first priority is a grass roots effort to win statehouse seats and Governorships.

Otherwise, Republicans will continue their gerrymandering ways after the 2020 Census and any Democrat that finds him or herself in the White House in 2020 will find that they are powerless. Beware those looking for a quick and easy fix.

4. And that starts TODAY. In 2017, when LOCAL offices. . .

. . .are at stake.

Best thing to do: join your local Democratic committee, maybe even be appointed as a district leader. You will have access to knowledge of where the wires are pulled, and who the players are. You may even meet your local representatives (local and state level) at the committee meetings.

Local/county offices in 2017. State, Congressional, and the whole House in 2018.

One step at a time.

Candidates will have a lot of money, little use for the party, and little political experience.

2020 will probably be Cuban vs Travis Kalanick.

8. You still have to build your bench and your grassroots. . .

. . .two things the Democratic Party have neglected at its state and local levels.

The county executives, county legislators, city councilpeople and school board administrators of 2017 go on to become the state assembly/state senate/House reps in 2018, and the US Senators, Governors, etc in 2020 and beyond.

Brand New Congress understands this at the US House Rep level, and is already vetting and grooming candidates for 2018. Most of these candidates have little/no political experience; but they have decided to run because more and more people are willing to take chance on anything and anybody for a change.

2020 is way too far into the future right now.

The foundational bench-building at the local levels starts today, in 2017.

It will be as it always was. DEMOCRATS HAVE ALWAYS FOUGHT FOR ECON JUSTICE. Idiots didn't vote for them.
