Tech tools gain traction amid Trump war on leaks

As President Donald Trump warns of a crackdown on US government leaks to media, interest is growing in technology tools that allow sources to share information anonymously.

One such tool called SecureDrop, being used by at least 30 US and global media organizations, offers a way for sources to anonymously communicate via encrypted servers.

"We've seen an explosion of interest in SecureDrop in the past two months," said Trevor Timm, executive director of the Freedom of the Press Foundation, which created the tool.

Timm said "dozens" of news organizations had expressed interest in using the tool which enables sharing without leaving digital traces.

The message or images disappear after reading or viewing and is erased from both encrypted phones and the server... BUT..
If you have a external camera you can photograph the text or image on your phone for posterity.
You would have visual proof of of it's existence... Like words out of your mouth can be recorded, so can images or text be photographed.

If you make a statement and someone refutes it, you have proof. .You need to be ready to photograph the text/picture though.. Bad for the sender as you have set them up and defeated the purpose of self deleting text/pic's..
Ain't technology grand??
