Before We Celebrate Trump's Fall, Pay Attention to Pence and His "Plausible Deniability."
Trump says he dumped Flynn because Flynn kept Pence out of the loop. In other words, Flynn did not trust Pence to keep the conspiracy secret, and so he lied to him. And Trump trusts Pence more than Flynn, so Flynn had to go. But Flynn did not do anything wrong, no, that was whoever leaked the story. Flynn's only crime was disrespecting Pence.
If you read between Trump's garbled and often all but unintelligible ramblings, you get two messages--carefully crafted, I suspect. One, Pence was not part of the conspiracy. And two, Pence is a man worthy of respect.
Bullshit, I know. But this is politics as theater. And Trump and the GOP and the Mainstream Media seem determined to paint Pence as the "good" mafioso, Michael Corleone and Trump as the hot tempered, dangerous mafioso, Sonny, a man with his heart in the right place but without the skills of his brother.
The MSM won't fall for this, right? Wrong. Look at the USA Today headline

This headline is literally everywhere. Everyone knows that Pence is going to "hold Russia accountable." It's his campaign slogan. Trump vowed to Make America Great Again. Pence is promising to Hold Russia Accountable.
Trump is going down. Maxine Waters has told us so. Hurray! 
That's what many of us are feeling at the moment. But as you rejoice, spare a thought for Pence, the man for whom Kelly Anne Conway worked before she started doing such a bang up job for Trump. This is Manchurian Candidate by character assassination and once Trump is gone, the press is gonna forget all about the stolen election and the industry insiders who now run our country and the right wing coup and it will be GOP business as usual on Washington with a man at the helm who would never in a million years have come even close to beating Hillary, that is why they had to sneak him in on the coattails of a famous, pompous but high profile windbag.
That bitter taste in your mouth as you savor this victory over Trump? That's the taste of the bullshit we are being fed.
If the press is really doing its job, it will not stop at Trump. That would be like taking out Nixon to give us Spiro Agnew. There is no way in hell Pence was not in the loop on this one. Come on people who know. Sally Yates. Members of the intelligence community. Do your duty. Go Deep Throat.
And would be Woodward and Bernsteins, the real laurels will not go to the journalists who bring down Trump? He is doing that all by himself. The real challenge will be blowing the lid off the conspiracy to install Pence as president.
