The farmers are really going to be happy, Mex to buy corn from Argentina

President Donald Trump's remarks about Mexico might hurt American farmers, as CNN Money reported a Mexican senator plans to introduce a bill that would make Brazil and Argentina the country's corn supplier.

Senator Armando Rios Piter, the head of a congressional committee on foreign relations, told CNN Sunday he is "going to send a bill for the corn that we are buying in the Midwest and . . . change to Brazil or Argentina," saying it is a "good way to tell them that this hostile relationship has consequences, hope that it changes."

He was a farmer for 60-years AND the first conscientious objector from one of those red states, the founder of that state's peace group, and he carved roughly a decade out of his 7 decades of farming to work for peace and social justice organizations (including being the national leader of one of them for 2 years).

He's never voted republican in his life (aside from perhaps local races in which he knew the individuals personally and for whom their job-related abilities were more important than their politics) and was disowned by his parents for his politics.

So thanks for being so empathetic about what Trump's policies will do for him in his retirement years - when a significant portion of what he needs to support him in retirement is tied to how well the corn (and other) markets do.

You might not want to paint with such a broad brush.

and myself who retired from farming last year at the age of 69. Farmers do not vote Democrat anymore. They are as red neck conservative as possible. My son or grandsons get any subsidies of almost free crop insurance. Its time to let them loose. Half of my county is now corporate COMMERCIAL dairy's.

Also the price of corn has been rising along with the Dow with everyone expecting tax cuts and no NAFTA. Guess they haven't heard about the deal with South America.

Do you talk to their chemical, fuel and seed dealers?

Do you look at voting records of small farming communities?

Do you talk to any of these?

I will continue to say farmers vote republican.

Replacement cost is 3.92-4.08 depending on your location. Yes they will have to dump their bins but first they have to get the their Lenders to agree or do a work out because of the Cash price at the Elevator will below their Mortgaged price.

If Trump does away with Ethanol, hang on baby,it ain't going to be pretty.

I never paint with a broad brush myself, because I know that there are people trapped in red states who didn't vote for tRumputin who will be suffering because of the stooges who voted for him. I always preface what I'm saying about red states with a "I feel for those in red states who didn't vote for tRumputin" etc. My late Mom grew up on a farm in Oklahoma smack dab during the Depression and everybody of course was having a HORRIBLE time, as food was extremely scarce.

My late Mom told me a story about a white farmer the next farm over helped out their family with the few of beef/sugar/flour rations he had (This man had 10 kids), and that my late grandfather used to help him out with the few crops he could grow and with beef/sugar/flour rations he had (My Mom had 4 in her family--less mouths to feed). Politics nor skin color had anything to do with anything, as BOTH men looked out for one another and their families. She also told me about a generous and kind Jewish store owner who used to help out ALL of the African-Americans purchase food even when they didn't have enough money (My late grands was a widower at this time in the mid 1940's). Anyway, thank GOD for those like your Dad, my late grandfather/the farmer down the road and the Jewish store owner who had good souls, good hearts and minds and who saw PEOPLE instead of the color of a person's skin. Oddly enough though, my late Dad who was Native-American suffered no such trouble during the Great Depression because as a Native American he and his family used to grow tobacco and sweet potatoes and they hunted elk, deer and had chickens and pigs, cows on 1,000 acres they owned (And 2 huge houses they built themselves), and they used to sell mostly the tobacco/sweet potatoes/eggs to white farmers and local white store owners etc. In those days, whites were NOT allowed onto "Indian Territory," (Which was self-sufficient) so my late father, his dad, 2 uncles and several other relatives living on their farm drove their pick-up trucks to half way points where they exchanged their goods for monies. My late grand father nor his brothers or relatives couldn't read nor write at all, so my late father as a young teen ager who could read and write well had to help weigh and add up what they sold to the farmers/buyers, log it in a book which my late Dad meticulously kept. They lived/sold goods this way off of their farm for over 9 years during most of the Great Depression.

Our late fore parents had the weight of the world on their shoulders didn't they?

Anyway, it's a shame though that once those tRumputin-loving farmers find out that their boy screwed them into hell with his BIG, FAT, IGNORANT, RACIST mouth they'll probably blame former Pres. Obama because their boy tRumputin will tell them it's HIS fault, or, he'll blame it on the "fake news" folks and they'll blame it on them. ANYBODY but blame it on the asshole (tRumputin) who deserves all of the blame.

SMDH.

Farmers will suffer, just not as much as we think. Cheap feed will equal more meat as well.

I grew up on a farm, so I know how it is done. You push cheap feed through feeder cattle, dairy cattle and hogs.

*sever immigration enforcement goes into effect*

Farmer: Where did all my cheap labor go to? I can't afford to pay higher wages and be competitive with other nations despite my; subsidized water, subsidized crops. etc. Now your telling me, despite my slightly lower than average prices on corn, people won't by from me because I voted for Trump?
