CAN I ask a Question??

If indeed there is a Connection brought forth about Trump and Putin and it looks very bad, what CAN be done? Both the House and Senate have the Majority of Republicans. They Will not allow an Impeachment. Will the Supreme Court do anything? The Justice Department?? Who? The FBI?

What can be done against a sitting fully elected President who has gone ROGUE? ...

He and his panel explains the most direct route, although it isn't likely to happen for some time yet.

...maybe pressuring Pence to try the 25th amendment route. Things would have to get real bad for this to happen. There certainly will be no impeachment, much less a conviction. But if the evidence for Trump being a Russian spy becomes *so* obvious that not even Ryan and McConnell can ignore it, then maybe something will happen. This of course ignores little side-issues, such as what involvement Pence himself has in this mess. Or Ryan and McConnell, for that matter. Whether or not the people regard *any* Repub as legitimate, if this scandal is as great as it appears and the whole election was decided by treason. I think this will, in the end, be a bigger political ball-buster than Trump himself.

...which, while it might be cathartic, probably wouldn't help the overall situation much. Only a Grand Jury could indict Trump, and that would require a prosecutor. The Justice Department broke the Watergate scandal; maybe someone there now will behave similarly. And you can stop laughing hysterically now, at the thought of Sessions' Department of Justice doing anything of the sort...

the Republicans will ultimately be the ones forced to deal with it. To save their own skins, of course, but if the Democrats were in control the R's could hide behind them and later scream about partisanship.

There is something almost Shakespearean about this drama.

5. No, I don't think there's any mechanism other than impeachment

Saw something the other day about a majority of his cabinet possibly being able to declare him unable to carry out his duties (generally in place in case a president is incapacitated)

There is no mechanism, afaik, for declaring an election invalid and we have no vote of no confidence provisions. Pretty much, unless he steps down or the Republican Congress decides he's no longer a useful idiot, we're stuck till 2020. And 2018 is probably not gonna give us a Dem Congress- certainly not in the house and the numbers look bad for the Senate. Too many vulnerable Dem seats up for grabs compared to Repug.

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, I just think we can't count on regaining Congress or the White House for at least 4 years.

The cabinet members are usually the first to recognize that "The President Can No Longer Do His Job." There ARE for sure some cabinet members who are more loyal to The Con than they are to the Country. Not all of them though. He's named quite a # of military men to lead his cabinet departments. THEY won't let him get so out of control that he generates disaster. Especially McMaster and the one they cal Mad Dog. (Sorry I don't recall his name.)

Seems the 25th Amendment covers this.

"SECTION 4
Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

I think if the Con gets too out of control, that's what we'll see happen.

That the President is out of control, or whatever, that he would be better suited, they will act. I guess, basically?

Other wise, He won't be impeached by the government, because they need him to be a useful idiot.

this would only happen if the national discontent rises to a very high level.

It's hard to predict when or how this would happen, but Trump is a whack job and beyond even the likely very damaging Russian info still not unraveled, he's liable to do and say some very crazy shit as the months go on.

if the discontent in the country over what Trump has done or does in the future rises to a level that threatens them.

And they'd love Pence.

to start turning on trump..but keep in mind...with acting president pence and the republican congress - all their legislation will still be on a fast track to rob and pillage our country and countrymen and women..my worst fears have come to fruition....and no place to turn...

rethugs love the protests..will use to remove trump and put pence in and then blame it all on trump....but they have to be sure that trumps base can be controlled....for now..trump controls them - and his rallies are for just that effort....IMHO
