He is a stereotypical 1950s white male - repressed and oppressing, at the minimum verbally & emotionally abusive up to and probably reaching physically abusive, hypocritically "moral" while denying his "secret" transgressions. He should shut up about passing his judgments on everybody else and retreat to a cell to meditate on his own sickness.

Really, his root problem is cultural ignorance, being in the bubble of his small cultural references, the remnants of the narrowest medieval Irish Catholicism.
