I have hope that the protests give the GOP pause. But I do believe they are going to trash everything. They have 2 years to smash everything and I believe they will do it. And I do not think they are worried about 2018 because they have 2 years to fix the vote permanently in their favor. They believe they are politically bullet proof.

I still see them as being arrogant and vengeful. They are hiding like snakes and will do what Ryan and McConnell tell them to do. McDonnell said it bluntly. Winners make the policy (and we will) and the losers go home.

We will know the landscape when the budget comes out in the near future. And we will see the agenda after the State of the Union message.

If you want to live like a king, you have to ensure that you can maintain a balance between your enforcement personnel (police, courts, prison, and bureaucracy) and the rest of the population. Historically, that seems to run on a 1 - 50 ratio. 1 enforcer can affect 50 otherwise affiliated people, broken down into two risk groups - potential activists (working age healthy adults) and non activists (children, disabled, and elderly).

So, the GOP/White Nationalists/Dominionists/Corporatists and all the other fellow travelers have to ensure that for every thousand enforcers they can control, there are only 50 thousand citizens.

Between the for-profit prison system and the for-profit health care system, the hard GOP billionaire's club has probably estimated they have the right ratio to move on the rest of the population of the U.S if they cut the Social Safety Net now and throw the rest of the population into chaos for the next couple years.

They just have to ensure their current recruited enforcement arm is just as corrupt and soul-less as they are; if they start losing their brain-washed thugs through "humanization", they're going down with the rest of the country.

Of course, they're planning an Oligarchy, but if Putin's Russia (or Stalin's Russia) is any example, the total downfall of this country will come from the decades long high-stakes game of "Last Rich Man Standing" that will occur soon after the chaos begins. Our billionaires don't have either the patience or the cultural habits that will allow for a true Party-based Oligarchy like China has gone through.
