Steve Bannon in a frightening way reminds me of Dick Cheney

I'm not going to sit here and work this whole thesis out, but ....

Both have enormous inside influence on the Presidency. Both have cockeyed world views that call for the US to use it's foreign policy in ways not supported by facts, but on personal paranoia.

In Cheney's case, he influenced Bush into a war that was never necessary or in our national interest, and we are still paying endless repercussions for it, up to and including ISIS.

What bizarre crisis will Bannon get us into with his peculiar notions of economic nationalism? What new war will fail us?

Cheney wasn't from a white supremacist media outlet. He didn't have the desire to destroy the federal government.

And that's a very, very low bar.

Bannon is a nihilist, which is an even more dangerous creature than a neocon. Cheney had a worldview based on fear (just ask Lawrence Wilkerson, who said he was "paranoid and frightened&quot . Bannon has a worldview of chaos and destruction. That's way scarier.

The world is evil, invade them, pacify them, make Halliburton rich as a happy side benefit. To his credit, he wasn't interested in hurting Americans as a primary objective. And at a fundamental level, he was interested in governing, albeit with loathsome policies.

Bannon is something right out of a horror film. Take Cheney's dim view of the rest of the world and turn it against America, mix in a heavy dose of modern neo-nazism, and you get him.

and he has a bizarre, and thoroughly unhealthy worldview, that operates in abolishing civilizations (like a Manichaean worldview). He wants destruction, he believes that the end-times clash of civilizations without any of the Christian aspects needs to happen now he -- basically he wants to destroy as much as possible period. Cheney did have some of the normal restraints -- Bannon is far, far worse.

Cheney didn't want to destroy the government, he just wanted to profit off of it.

Bannon is a deconstructionist. He wants to burn it down.

For years.

Cheney also didn't go after people the way trump is with bans and deportations.

I also don't think Bush was afraid of Cheney but just being and knowing he is an idiot gave others more say than must presidents would.

Cheney spoke out against the muslim ban but if he did try to do it i don't think Bush would have had any problem saying no.

Bannon is a creature that, until now, only existed in Nazi Germany and the literature of H.P. Lovecraft.
