Yesterday in Atlanta it felt like a mild Summer day.

Not Spring...SUMMER.

People were wearing short-shorts and light t-shirts. The outdoor seating at restaurants were packed last night. People were running, walking, and biking everywhere.

It's February 24th and so far we have missed the entire winter season.

I've lived in Atlanta since the early 90's and, although it's not the North, the winters here are typically in the 30's to 50's. On an average day the low would be around 35 and the high would be not much more than 50. Everyone would need coats and most people stayed inside the entire day. And, this would last from the beginning of November until the middle of March. But, not his year.

I have worn at least a light jacket no more than 7 times this entire season. I usually wear one everyday for 3-4 months.

This is not normal folks. How anyone can deny climate change after going through seasonal changes/temperatures like this is a really sick person.

Have a nice day!

(I believe the high was 72).

It's on its way to being the warmest February on record here.

I am just afraid that it will wake up the buds on the shrubs only to have them get wiped out with a late freeze in April (same may happen in GA - re: peaches).

I live in Chicago and i played both days the last two weekends. No coat, no gloves between shots. It was decidedly NOT winter golf. More like playing in April or September.

Per our weather folks, we have had enough rain in February that i would have been 16 inches of snow in a typical year. We had thunderstorms last night. The temperature is dropping for Saturday and then going right back up. So, we'll have one day in the 20's and low 30's and then right back up to the 50's.

Very unusual winter here, too.

California's biblical deluge has occupied many a meteorologists’ mind this February. But another notable story is unfolding across the eastern U.S. Unseasonable warmth has kickstarted spring up to a month early in the Southeast, cut into already paltry Great Lakes ice cover and created skiing conditions more reminiscent of April in the Northeast. But the most outstanding aspect of the persistent February warmth is what it has done to the ratio of record highs to record lows.

There have been 3,146 record highs set for the month-to-date compared to only 27 record lows, ensuring February will go down as the 27th month in a row with more highs than lows. The astonishing 116-to-1 ratio of highs to lows would easily set a record for the most lopsided monthly ratio in history. There have also been 248 monthly record highs and no monthly record lows.

The United States hits record high temps, as a climate change denier takes the reigns at the EPA.

Meteorologists expect to see dozens of heat records broken this week, as an extended stretch of uncommonly warm weather continues across much of the United States.

Also this week, Scott Pruitt took the helm at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Pruitt, who has deep ties to the fossil fuel industry, has described climate science as a “religious belief” and said he expects to scrap the Clean Power Plan, an EPA initiative to limit carbon pollution from power plants.

Scientists have found that carbon pollution is warming the planet, producing more severe weather, including more extreme heat. February’s spate of record-high temperatures offers the most recent example of how this process plays out.
