She voted for Trump. Now she fears losing the Obamacare plan that saved her life.

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-obamacare-trump-voter-20170224-story.html

Kathy Watson was anxious about her health coverage even before she woke up gasping for breath last month and drove herself to the emergency room with a flare-up in her heart condition.

After struggling for years without insurance, the 55-year-old former small-business owner — who has battled diabetes, high blood pressure and two cancers — credits Obamacare with saving her life.

Watson also voted for Donald Trump, believing the businessman would bring change. She dismissed his campaign pledges to scrap the Affordable Care Act as bluster.

Now, as she watches the new president push to kill the law that provided her with a critical lifeline, Watson finds herself among many Trump supporters who must reconcile their votes with worries about the future of their healthcare.

for people who are being targeted by the racists who voted for Trump. I swear to God people like this have not been paying attention to what Republicans have been doing since the 80's and now they're surprised? They could care less when the Republicans screw others, but when its them, they sob the loudest.

And Donald Trump has been a colossal asshole since the sperm hit the egg. There was no mystery about who he is and what depths he'll stoop to.

" I do not wish anyone ill but at some point I grow weary of constantly bailing out the failed policies of the GOP and conservatives only to then be blamed for them later." (by a commenter named wnovin)

We liberals keep on trying to do right by everyone, including right-wingers, and they almost always end up resenting us for it. It does get a little old, caring about people who look down on us and call us bleeding hearts. Caring about others is what makes us liberals, so I'm going to keep on doing it, but... yeah. It's getting old.

Sat Feb 25, 2017, 09:33 PM
Feb 2017

but I see all the people who didn't vote for Trump, who are in the same boat as Ms Watson, and can't help but think the people like Ms Watson, who did vote for Trump - even though he repeatedly said he would repeal the ACA - have possibly killed not just themselves but non-Trump voters as well.

You see, it would be one thing if it was only the lives of the people who voted for Trump - they got exactly what they voted for even if it is a rude awakening now.....but they are also killing the people who didn't vote for Trump.

It wasn't just their lives they were playing with. They played with the lives of other people. Their choice to vote for Trump could kill people who didn't vote for Trump.

So, while I do hate what is happening to those people who voted against their own best interests, I can't help but feel that those same people are also partially responsible for any deaths of the people who didn't vote for Trump and who need the ACA as much as Ms Watson does.

The blame also goes to Trump and the GOP, as well as Trump voters.

Ms Watson, your vote didn't just possibly kill you - it could potentially kill many others.

Why didn't you consider that?

In the article, Ms Watson speaks in terms of her not being someone who wants something for nothing, as if to separate herself from others in need by using words to suggest some people are freeloaders (something for nothing), and that is she is different (therefore more deserving). Even now, with everything she now understands, she still thinks in those terms.
