If You Attend A Press "Gaggle" Where Others Are Excluded, You're Helping To Destroy The Free Press!
It's really that simple.
If you are a major news outlet who goes into a press briefing that other major news outlets have been excluded from because politicians are trying to PUNISH them for what they wrote, you are HELPING to destroy the news industry, and HELPING to destroy the First Amendment! If you do that, you are COMPLICIT in what those (Fascist) politicians are trying to do, and you are an ACCESSORY to it.
On Friday, the Trump Administration held a press briefing, and told CNN, The NYT, Buzzfeed, The Hill, Politico, the LA Times and the NY Daily "YOU CAN'T come in!" They told them that because they didn't like the things those news organizations were writing about them.
At the same time, they told NBC, CBC, ABC, FOX (big surprise), AP and TIME "You CAN come in" because they were NOT unhappy with what they were writing.
NBC, CBS, ABC, and FOX WENT IN. For that I say FUCK YOU! Thank you so much contributing to the demise of a free press.
The Associated Press and TIME BOYCOTTED the press briefing specifically BECAUSE other news outlets were being excluded. For that I say THANK YOU! Thank you for DEFENDING the role of a free press in a democracy!
This nonsense simply cannot be allowed to continue, where the Trump Administration thinks it can bully news organizations into not writing anything critical of them, by threatening to cut off their access. ANY REPORTER and ANY NEWS ORGANIZATION who actually cares about the role of a free press in a democracy more than they do about RATINGS would resist this, and boycott any attempts to do it.
Here's where the rubber meets the road, you so-called journalists. From now on, every time this happens, we have to label the news organizations that boycott as HEROES, and the news organization that goes along with it as simpering sycophantic KISS-ASSES who care more about selling soap, and getting their faces on the TEE VEE than they do about journalism. They're ACTORS, not reporters. They're admitting that they're only there to sell soap and viagra to the public, and not to INFORM the public.
Anybody who goes into a meeting like that should rightly be labeled as being IN THE TANK for the Trump Administration. If the REAL news organizations actually show some guts in this, the next Trump tries that trick, Spicer will be sitting in his office with Fox, Breitbart, Infowars, and The Daily Caller. And that's the way it SHOULD be. Then everybody will KNOW who's in the tank for Trump vs. who is actually interested in journalism.

And...FUCK YOU, NBC, CBC, ABC, and especially FOX.
