For African-Americans watching, I'd guess that rubbed in the double standard on how Casey and Nate Parker(who was cheated out of at least two possible Oscar nominations) were treated after facing similar accusations.

Actor who they decided would win from the start.
But best picture was about black gay poor men so that is a big effing deal.

Choosing Brie to hand Casey that award(she'd had to hand him an award at another ceremony recently)disrespected the women whose stories she was trying to tell.

Would you at least agree that if ALL the biggest awards had gone to LA LA LAND and MANCHESTER, that that would have been a kind of chickening-out on the whole spirit of the evening and what everyone had been saying for the first two-thirds of the ceremony?

That may depend on how commercially successful she's been so far, and to what degree she's in demand as an actor.

A lot of people in Hollywood will feel they have less power to refuse to do things they object to at an early stage of their career.
