Why does he have to add to the defense budget? Wouldn't all of his tough negotiating, and looking out for the U.S., result in so much savings that we would still come out ahead even with military expansion? Just saying.

however, that doesn't mean such untruths are meaningless or completely discountable, as they give insight into how a would-be dictator intends to proceed and behave in the future.
if Trump tells us he is a Great Negotiator, whether his arrangements are in any way an improvement over what preceded them or not, later on he will tell us he has negotiated Great Deals Much Better Than What We Had Before, and behave as if those deals are Great. any facts which run counter to such assertions will be portrayed as falsehoods, and any media that publishes said facts will be called out as an enemy of the people.
this process has already begun.
