I've fantasized about them taking back control of the House and then installing their Speaker pick as president, but is there any chance they're actually considering this? Maybe they have enough on the Trump campaign to impeach both Trump and Pence but realize it'll never happen with them in the minority. Maybe they're planning to use this information when the time is right to kick them both out after hopefully regaining House control following the midterms. For obvious reasons, they wouldn't speak publically about it right now.
...any hope?

(115,686 posts)Not much of an improvement, but it's not likely to happen anyhow. Their plans are not secret; they are going to try to take back the House and the Senate, which is also unlikely as things stand now.

(115,686 posts)If Trump were to be impeached and convicted, Pence would become president and then he could appoint a new vice president. If Pence were then impeached and convicted (these events would not happen simultaneously), the new vice president would become president and could also appoint a vice president.
The OP's fantasy is only that, unfortunately.

(10,899 posts)They could simply not approve his pick.
Then they could impeach.

(26,291 posts)They would need to get atleast 67 votes in the Senate and its a midterm election and there are simply not enough Repugnant seats at potential risk to get them even close to winning 67 seats.
Best we can hope for is for them to get majority control back in both Houses.

Never underestimate an angry mob.

(26,291 posts)with only a handful of Repugnant ones and even if the Democrats won every seat it would not get them to 67 seats.
