Bloomberg: In fact, it was no accident that the order was sprung without warning on a Friday afternoon. Trumps chief strategist Steve Bannon arranged the timing in the expectation that opponents, freed from work on the weekend, would stage huge protestsdrawing maximum attention and galvanizing Trump supporters as the president followed through on a controversial campaign promise, says a senior administration official.
The order did indeed spark nationwide demonstrations, but things veered off script from there, as the White House struggled to explain to law enforcement officials, federal agencies, and foreign governments what the hastily drafted document did and didnt say.

(82,849 posts)But remember the milieu he comes out of, an online blog. You don't have to worry about editions or deadlines or anything when you're posting to a blog (ditto with sources, facts, and those other niggling concerns of legitimate journalists). You just upload whatever crap you type, and it goes online. The timing of the release of the poorly-drafted, unconstitutional executive order exhibits the same sort of "upload" mentality, which they're now trying to play off as their plan all along.
Maybe next time these amateurs try drafting a legal document, they'll consult with an attorney. And if the attorney has any ethics at all, he or she will dissuade them from doing something that stupid again.

I agree he's evil, he's just not a mastermind. Good points on the upload mentality, btw.

(24,412 posts)The order was ill-conceived and poorly drafted, not vetted or shared with the agencies charged with implementing it, it inconvenienced a lot of people for no good reason because the agencies in charge had no guidance, and, it made the opposition to Trump and his policies even stronger right out of the gate, and ultimately, the courts rejected it as unconstitutional. It appears that Trump is planning to take another bite at it, which will likely be doomed to failure as well. Kind of hard to believe that this is "winning" to them.
