Donald Trump read from a teleprompter and wore a nice suit, and suddenly he’s “presidential”?

The president’s tone in his first joint address to Congress on Tuesday night was certainly uncharacteristic. He was coherent. He hardly veered from his prepared remarks. He talked about “harmony and stability.” He appeared to be wearing a properly-sized tie.

Apparently, those were the only qualifications Trump had to meet to finally be considered “effective” and “presidential” by some of the mainstream D.C. press.

that, so long as Trump didn't go off the rails like he did at the infamous press conference, the MSM was going to call it presidential.

the problem is not the 1/3 living in their fantasy world.

That is a problem, but not THE problem.

The problem is the 1/3 in between our 1/3 and their 1/3 that has this "they are both the same" mentality and grade on a curve where because Rs are THAT horrible simply not being horrible is GREAT and Ds get harangued for complete fucking bullshit like a flagpin.

THAT is the problem.

He reads one speech without insulting too many people and suddenly he's presidential. It won't last long. It's now leaking out that he told someone he's open to legal status for undocumented immigrants who are here. His hate-mongering base will go batshit crazy when they hear this and next thing you know Der Fuhrer will be back on track tossing Mexican mothers out of the country.

but these are the same people who lauded W. Bush. Give me enough meds and I can read the same speech.

In a few days after the dust settles, we'll come to realize just how divisive and delusional this speech really was.

I stopped counting the perpetual lies coming out of this speech, the repetition of claims that have been proven false (Harley Davidson came to mind just as soon as he said it), and so on.

I will give him credit in that all through the campaign and into his first month of his Presidency, he has continued to emphasize the need for an infrastructure overhaul. Republicans whether it be in the Congress or in the White House have seemed to forget that infrastructure is indeed. And I'll also give him his due for coming right out of the gate in condemning the violence and anti-semitic acts that have occurred over the last few days.

What was disconcerning was his proposals to increase military spending, his proposed assault on public schools, his proposed easing of environmental regulations, etc.

And the never ending Great Wall of America, and the "Repeal and Replace Obamacare".

What did strike me as a bit odd was that there was no mention of Israel. In all my years, I don't remember any Presidental speech before the joint House and Senate not stating their support for Israel.
