bloviating buffoon..who just wants to prove a point, "see Obama, this IS easy.." and hurt the American people..ply on our sympathies with meaningless empathy for the family of a slain military man whose death he is responsible for yet takes no responsibility....

There is NOTHING in this presidency or republican congress that is FOR the American people..we must remain focused...once sanctions are removed from Russia..that will be the defining moment...we will go to war - for greed! That is the moment I will be in the crowd, on the street....shouting NO WAR with all my being....

The media MUST stay on the Russian-trump connection....

Even the GOP were reluctant to get close. At best one deep along the aisles and plenty of time for mindless pleasantries with each one.

eta: Did our own version of MST3K and laughed at the faux normalcy he worked so hard to project. Thought it was particularly funny them showing him mouthing his speech in the limo on the way to the Capitol.

I hate when they do stuff you know they don't mean and the media and other fools buy it.

If he keeps this new MO up, though, it will be much more difficult to get our voters back. I just don't see those jobs coming back in those blood red states as he promised. But if he keeps with this new image they will not notice that they are being screwed.

A speech read off a teleprompter devoid of facts and substance, while using a war widow as a prop made him same somewhat human for 1 hour, and suddenly everyone is praising him as the greatest thing since FDR. It's disgusting. These people are so freakin gullible.

This country is doomed when this is all it takes to ignore the man is committing treason and destroying the country.

They have no idea how to deal with a maniac like Trump. Actually having to drop any decorum and practicing real journalism is alien to this new breed of "access is everything" bootlickers. They were desperate for an opportunity to normalize Trump, and that opportunity presented itself last night on a silver platter.

I was glad I passed. Watched an episode on BBC of planet earth 2 which was more interesting.

So, we will have to go through several of these controlled, orchestrated performances before people begin to realize that they need to watch what he does, not what he says.

I say that, knowing that there are 40% of the American population who are perfectly fine with his anglo-centric agenda.

It was still a rough speech to watch. When I told my husband I was going to try and watch it, he said "If I have to watch Trump I am going to have to get drunk. Hey, that rhymes!"

I had to look away from the screen often, especially when I knew "the wall" was coming.

In the whole speech, I think there was ONE mention of the environment and it was somehow lumped in with "women's health" and then it was back to fear, war, build up the military!

My daughter late 30's not into politics but does vote every 2 yrs, called me about my visit to her and when I mentioned I didn't watch Trump she said I didn't plan to but I did.

She lives in nice apt building with small gym in it, when she got there a guy had it turned on so she watched it. Said it sounded ok to her.

When I said it was a bunch of lies she says lets not talk politics and changes subject.

I barely got her to vote for Hillary she was almost swayed by Trumps lies.

And my daughter isn't dumb, just busy manager who doesn't watch news, doesn't want to be negative and worry.

If your not fact checking like us his promises sound good to people. It makes me want to scream!!
