Does a 70 year old man learning a new job

Suddenly become proficient at that job after reading a speech written by someone else? This new job is incredibly hard, perhaps the hardest in the world.
Also say this man has never even read a single book about how previous occupants of the new job performed in the massive undertaking of that job. Add to that the old mans lack of understanding of how that job works at its most basic level.

Then add a massive heaping of ego to the depth of ignorance of that job. Then add a complete lack of compassion ( a verified trait of people who worked in the old mans previous career I.e. CEO of a company). Also add to the mix the fact that the old man is surrounded by a senior staff who have very little experience in the workings of the old mans new job.

We all know that 45 will continue to fail as potus just based on his profile. He is an old man set in his ways and habits. A crisis will arise, most likely the result of his poor reading of a situation or based on 45s policies. 45s performance last night will melt away and like week old champagne become bitter.

We all need to stay focused on his actions because frankly that is where real people suffer. The orgy of good feelings about this speech is temporary. The consequences of his actions creates a rancid banquet. No amount of gold colored decor can alter the taste of food gone bad.

The resistance continues because if it doesn't we will all die of food poisoning.

The Donald has snubbed Mr. Christie repeatedly and yet he keeps going to bat for the president. He isn't going to get a high-level job in the Trump Administration. It doesn't make sense unless the president has something to hold over the governor's head.

It is not age, I think, but authoritarianism and other traits that is the key characteristic. Ted Cruz comes to mind, Devin Nunes (practically a child prodigy of politics).

Ralph Reed was a young man when he did so much damage to America.

I did not watch or listen to Trump's speech because fascists of any age use theater (which speechifying is) to manipulate emotion and inspire people to act against their own self interest.

Grounding or lack thereof. I think you either have an intellectual curiosity about government by the time you are 70 or you don't. Developing that curiosity at 70, especially with someone so lacking in it after a lifetime of not caring is not going to happen. pretty much 45 is and will always be who he is.
