Grab your popcorn. GOP must raise debt-ceiling by March 15th.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/fight-over-debt-ceiling-could-accelerate-trumps-budget-clash-with-gop/2017/02/28/cd7f0c9e-fdc7-11e6-99b4-9e613afeb09f_story.html?utm_term=.f6fbf538d61a

In 2015, the Obama administration and Congress agreed to suspend the federal debt ceiling until March 15, 2017.

After that date, the Treasury Department is expected to enact “emergency” measures to buy more time to allow the government to continue paying its bills. These emergency steps often include actions such as suspending pension payments, but the Treasury Department runs out of flexibility after several months.

During the conflicts with Obama, Republicans at one point tried to ban the use of these measures.

Budget experts believe that by August or September, if Congress has not acted, the Treasury could begin falling behind on payments, potentially triggering a new crisis over whether the government will default.

Republicans have not said whether they will pursue the same approach with the Trump administration. Although GOP lawmakers may be less likely to confront a Republican president, they might also be reluctant to give up on the anti-debt, budget-cutting principles they have long advocated.

Let's see how the GOP gets along with a debt-exploder like Trump.

Hammer them over hypocracy over debt, or for the guaranteed economic crises should they prove to be stupid rather than dishonest.

If you don't raise the debt ceiling then you don't get an infrastructure deal, you don't get $54 billion more for military, you don't get a tax deal, etc. That's all there is to it.

So I say those asshats will simply just raise the debt ceiling with a quickie bill in the middle of the night.

10. (D)s should filibuster until we get protections for ACA, Medicare, Medicaid and SS.

Screw 'em.

You know half of them want to shut down the government anyways, lets give them the chance.

It always backfires. Now that the (R)s control everything we should let it backfire on them.

The Republicans are the party of obstruction, but the memory of the public is short. If the Democrats become obstructionists, the Republicans will paint them as that and the public and the media will instantly forget the shit the GOP has pulled for the last 8 years.

The Democrats should simply abstain. Let the GOP own the result, whatever it may be.
