Am I the only one who was outraged by the "tribute" to Ryan Owens?

It broke my heart to see Carryn Owens crying in front of the man whose carelessness caused the death of her husband, and who refuses to own any responsibility for the fiasco.
And when he quipped that "she beat my applause record", I thought I was going to throw up...
Yet Van Jones and others thought that was great. The hypocrisy and deceit were monumental, as he went on milking it and the cameras zeroed in on Carryn...
It was truly awful.
But I have seen very few comments to that effect. I guess the con job is working. Order a military action over dinner without any research, get a brave SEAL killed along with civilians including women and children, then blame someone else, and everyone thinks you are suddenly Presidential.
That says a lot about the nature of the Presidency...

I felt sorry for Mrs. Owens. Whether she realized it or not, to me, it made her look like a prop.

My thinking is that Trump took great pride in actually getting her there, particularly when Ryan Owens' father has been so upfront about his disdain for Trump and the raid culminating in the loss of his son.

To me, Trump was enjoying a "victory" for having gotten the widow to show up to his event. It was meant as a smack in the face to the father.

That is exactly what she was, a prop, and deep down she has to know that. I have to wonder what family problems this is going to cause between her and his father.

I've not seen any public statements that Mrs. Owens has made and don't know whether she agrees or disagrees with her father-in-law's assessment of things.

The family is going through enough grief as it is. It is sad for anyone, including 45, to use that state of grief as an advantage in any form.

Trump shitted on rep. John Lewis. Then every time the media asked Trump or any trumpite about Lewis, they brought up MLK3.

As we know it always all about him, one thing that that annoys me so much are the thank yous at inappropriate
times. They clapped at his tribute to Ryan Owens, he says thank you, but it wasn't applause for HIM, it was for the fallen SEAL . He just doesn't get it & NEVER will.

It's Obama's fault or the generals fault

I'm not a combat vet, but I know folks who were under fire.

Using a dead Navy SEAL as a political prop is highly inappropriate to me.

I don't know why she even agreed to be there.

It was disgusting and I don't know why the news media is now giving him credit for being "presidential".

Twitler seems to think the fact he died as a result of a plan that was casually ok'd over dinner is a good thing. I felt really bad for the wife. I wish she hadn't allowed herself to be used like that.

Ronald Reagan was the first to drag in people to his SOTU talks so the bored people at home could focus on someone/something else. The standing applause thing too. But you are right, the Owens tribute was over the top in every respect. It turned my stomach.

Melania and Ivanka just stood and applauded. No one reached out to sympathize, to care for her, to let her know that she was surrounded by people who care. They just stood and watched the tears stream down her face.

Mrs. Owens was just a prop to them, a thing. Not a human being.

I'm glad that I didn't watch the speech. This sounds like what he was doing having one of the moms whom lost their son in Benghazi at the RNC as a means to attack Hillary. Very sick. I'm sickened at the fact that it seemed to go over well with pundits and people like Van Jones, who should know better.

The duration was not natural. It appeared to me that Carryn had been coached to not do what everyone else who is recognized in similar situations naturally does - stand up, wave a little, tear up a little and then sit down.

I suspected that she had been encouraged, in advance, to not stand up and sit down but to keep on standing and standing and standing, and to not hold back on showing her deep pain - just let it keep flowing in front of everyone. Share it with the world, honey. No need to hold your composure...

It was a powerful trap. Very effective propaganda - visually and emotionally. Despicable abuse of this woman and of us.

The pundits were, of course, completely unprepared and still can't figure out what hit them. That's how well crafted propaganda works.
