Didn't watch last night. How did the Dem rebuttal go and who gave it? Nor seeing anything this am.

(1,735 posts)Delivered a folksy, but pointed discussion of ACA, primarily. I thought he was spot on, but commentators dissed him. They wanted a new face for the rebuttal, not a man who had successfully enacted good healthcare in his state. See how successful the Repubs were when they put up "little " thirsty Mario Rubio for the job!

(54,770 posts)The governor has been a good supporter of the ACA and took some real political risks supporting Obama. But, it was a bit folksy, and it wasn't a very diverse crowd which is what I think makes the Democratic Party best.

(28,394 posts)No idea how the attendees were selected or how diverse that community is. Someone said they looked like "hostages." LOL
I think they were just listening politely.

(28,394 posts)It was a huge contrast to the grandiose charade of drumpf's speech to Congress. It was very folksy and low-key and mainly focused on ACA. I thought Beshear was a great choice to deliver that message and he would relate to the people who fear losing their healthcare.
I only checked with MSNBC and they didn't give him a very good review though. Someone said that those rebuttal speeches never go well and compared him to Jindal. He was a million times better than any republican response that I can recall.... such as Rubio, Haley, Ernst, and Cathy McMorris Rodgers!!

They all need to watch Jon Stewart on Colbert from Monday night. I think it's a very apt description.
