Link to tweet
From the wapo article at the tweet link.
Then-Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) spoke twice last year with Russias ambassador to the United States, Justice Department officials said, encounters he did not disclose when asked about possible contacts between members of President Trumps campaign and representatives of Moscow during Sessionss confirmation hearing to become attorney general.
One of the meetings was a private conversation between Sessions and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak that took place in September in the senators office, at the height of what U.S. intelligence officials say was a Russian cyber campaign to upend the U.S. presidential race.
The previously undisclosed discussions could fuel new congressional calls for the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Russias alleged role in the 2016 presidential election. As attorney general, Sessions oversees the Justice Department and the FBI, which have been leading investigations into Russian meddling and any links to Trumps associates. He has so far resisted calls to recuse himself.

This should definitely push for an independent investigation but we'll see if the GOP has the will to put country ahead of party. That remains to be seen.

Unless they are in collusion, they must realize the damage being done to the republic.

He must recuse from any proceedings on Russia now - conflict of interest. This is out and public, so I hope the media keeps the heat on.
I love it when NYT and WaPo drop huge stories within an hour of each other.
