Jersey hanging in my office.
He was the nicest professional athlete I ever met.
He used his "let's play two phrase" for golf as well.
When we met at the golf course he said " Hey man let's play 36!" Truly a wonderful, humble gentleman.

of the nicest people in sports, which is amazing, considering the times he went through, and what he endured coming up.

as for me, first game at wrigley, the cubs beat the cards to go into first place in 69. mudcat grant threw a ball into the stands after the fans were throwing lots of stuff at him as he worked out in left field before the game. the ball, which he threw as hard as he could, went right between me and the guy next to me. it hit a kid in the forehead and knocked him out! the cops came and dragged grant off the field, and the kid was taken away by the Frains

later on, he came back to the stands, with a bump the size of a walnut on his forehead....massive cheers from the fans!

what a day!

the next day the trib had a big picture in the sports section of grand firing the ball into the stands, labeling it as grant 'tossing' a ball to the fans! the picture clearly shows the fans parting like the red sea trying to get away from the missile

it's online somewhere, but the computer I had it on is dead, and I can't find it anymore
