Robert Reich- We are in a crisis of governance.

Robert Reich (FB)
1 hr ·

We are in a crisis of governance.

This morning White House press secretary Sean Spicer called for a congressional investigation into Trump’s claims that Barack Obama had him wiretapped during last year's election. Hours before, Trump continued his extraordinary and unprecedented attack on Obama. "Who was it that secretly said to Russian President, ‘Tell Vladimir that after the election I'll have more flexibility?’" Trump tweeted.

There is not one iota of evidence Trump or his aides were the subjects of surveillance during last year's election.

For Democrats to respond to this utter drivel risks making it the new normal of partisanship. For Obama himself to respond would dignify it.

So the responsibility falls to Republican leaders. They must stand up and call this what it is: Pure demagoguery designed to distract attention from the investigations into Trump’s Russian connections.

I call on former Republican presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, former Republican senators and members of Congress, and current Republican senators and members of Congress, to stop this outrage. We are in a serious crisis of governance, and their voices are critical.

What do you think?

1. The president of the United States is crazy,

and the people in his administration cannot control him. This is obvious. Why don't the Republicans care?

They rein him in just enough so that he makes a speech before Congress that does not sound batshit crazy, but then less than 24 hours later he starts into his conspiracy theory nonsense all over again!

The guy is such a loose cannon, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of him holding some of their sacred cows hostage in order to force them to go along with some of the crazy shit that only he wants.

and are too obsessed with stuffing their pockets
than doing the slightest amount of good.
I honest cannot think of one thing Republicans
have done in the last 40 years that helped
the world in an un-self-serving way.
And that goes for rank & file Republicans too,
Not just the politicos. Real selfish fuckers.

And the Cretin is using projection again about his own deceitful agenda AND his habitual distraction tactics of something illegal or treasonous in his own administration AND his continuing sociopathic personality AND blah blah blah.
Our series of crisis is careening towards unprecedented chaos and we haven't found the magic answer yet to "How in all that's holy or unholy did we get to this point and how the f do we stop it???"

The officials said the intercepted communications were not limited to Trump campaign officials, and included other associates of Mr. Trump. On the Russian side, the contacts also included members of the government outside of the intelligence services, they said. All of the current and former officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because the continuing investigation is classified.

We have been hearing about the investigations for months??
