The Newest "Der Spiegel" Cover Takes Aim at Trump's Ties to Putin

by Lindsey Ellefson | 11:36 am, March 6th, 2017

Donald Trump has been batting away suggestions that he’s in cahoots with Vladimir Putin since he was campaigning for the presidency. Remember “no puppet,” one of the greatest lines of the debates? His insistence that he and Putin are not palling around has gotten feebler and feebler as members of his administration are outed, one by one by one, as having had communications with the Kremlin that they weren’t totally honest about.

This is serious stuff, sure, but there’s still room for humor. Think of Saturday Night Live and their Trump and Putin romance. The latest cover of always-political German publication Der Spiegel combines the funny with the serious:

There is Trump’s signature hair on top of Putin’s, well, signature face.

This is far from the first time Der Spiegel has gone after Trump in a less-than-subtle way. He’s been a speeding meteor on the way to Earth, a cause of flag combustion, and the decapitator of democracy. Now, he’s just Putin himself.

We have to stop thinking that proof of treason will matter. It wont, not to half of the country. Eliot Rosewater Mar 2017 #2

Half of the country wants Putin to run the show, enacting laws against being gay and so on.

Allowing slavery, etc.

We are missing the big picture.

So maybe 24-25% of the population backed trump, and that number has fallen since his debacle of an administration has taken over.

We're not missing it.

accountable to, DO want a white nationalist nation and are good if that means Putin is involved.

The only way around this is a patriotic, high profile republican comes out and demands independent investigations.

Without that, what do you see happening that ends this?

Plus, lets say they impeach today, convict tomorrow and by Wednesday fuckface is back in NY where he so called belongs (belongs in prison for shit he did before being president, imagine what he is guilty of now after being president) and then PENCE comes in.

The stolen election guarantees

a. end of Social Security as we know it.
b. end of MEdicare as we know it.
c. end of most government institutions entirely like EPA etc
d. continued attack on education, teachers, environment, working people

This is ridiculous. NO fucking republican belongs anywhere near that WH.

supporters are just about a quarter of the population.

This Russian collusion scandal is not going away, even though they wish it would.

Remember, Watergate unfolded over a year before Goldwater and others finally went to Nixon and told him it was over.

Trump is weakened by the continuing drip, drip, drip of Russian collusion with multiple members of his staff and is now flailing out with this unsubstantiated wiretap charge in a desperate attempt to change the subject.

It's not working so be patient, he's not going down in a ball of flames tomorrow, but he will in time.

It might take months but he's going.
