"SNIP............
Did you ever imagine youd become a celebrity advocate?
Not really. I thought Id return to my private life. But that has not been the case. Its been an amazing journey. I get offers outside the U.S. I have invitations to go to Sweden, Germany, Oxford. Japan television has been four times to our home. People want to know what are these values I talk about: equal values and due process. They are interested in our constitutional system of government. This clown in the White House needs to become serious and change course. The rest of the world is watching. We shall continue to talk and raise our voice.
Trump is continuing with his efforts to keep Muslims out of the country and to ban citizens from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. Just last week he said: We are going to keep radical Islamic terrorists the hell out of our country, Trump said. What do you make of that?
Trump has said he wants to impose a Muslim ban. He came up with a nonsensical executive order which the courts rejected. To make it even more childish, now he says hell come up with a new executive order.
As a patriotic American, I am all for the safety and security of our country. But Trump is going about it the wrong way. He is putting the lives of men and women serving in Muslim countries at risk and alienating local Muslims and strengthening our enemies.
Instead, Trump should heed the advice of experts who have dedicated their lives to security and safety. When our armed forces and CIA go to fight terrorism abroad, they rely on local people supporting them. Our intelligence officers need to assure them that the U.S. values pluralism and equal dignity for all and they will be protected if they migrate to U.S.

(60,010 posts)That is the one thing that seems to be missing from the story, and it is a very important one thing.
As in, the ACLU is happy to help out, but so far no news about who they would be going against.
I am starting to wonder if maybe this is a publicity stunt or something.

(118,636 posts)on the part of whomever in the executive informed him his traveling ability was up for review. Like red meat for Trump. They complain about Islam but when a leader comes along who is a good and decent man, and a natural leader, they will not allow that. Proves that they don't care about Islam modernizing. They just care about demonizing it.

(36,106 posts)Not necessarily on Khan's part
I've never heard of 'travel privileges'
According to articles the group that canceled his talk didn't reveal what agency was supposedly 'reviewing' his 'travel plans'
Something's not adding up

(25,485 posts)I don't have to take off my shoes, or take off my coat, or take out my laptop at airports..
However, even if they cancelled something like this, it should not prevent him from traveling..just means he would be standing in longer lines...need more info on the story..

(8,303 posts)As long as his passport is up to date, there is no issue.
There is no such thing as an agency which reviews "travel privileges" in the US.
Unless maybe he didn't pay his taxes - for a few years it's been the case that people with unpaid taxes can lose their passports.

Seems unlikely, though.
