(3,077 posts)He is comfortable in his familiar. He is an insecure little man and all the history of the White House overwhelms him. He will never measure up. He is a creature of habit. I bet he misses his golden palace.

(264 posts)Fucker that's why.
He feels controlled in Washington. I'm so damn mad right now. I knew if the unthinkable happened and he sat his fat ass in the oval office it would be bad. I'm afraid the path our country is on could be catastrophic. I underestimated how horrific this is going to be. His asshole followers may very well become violent, and I don't mean just when the shit comes down, but for years to come.

Funny given I voted for Bernie even, but that is in the past and want to know the WORST part? Those SAME people are probably going to continue to not vote for Democrats unless they get the pure candidates they want.

(111,255 posts)There's no golf course, the rooms are all done in genuine antiques instead of the reproductions he prefers (no dings), and there are very little gilt and marble. The rooms are small and the ceilings aren't open to the floor above, making them seem even smaller.
Now if they'd moved the White House into the Breakers in Newport, RI, he might enjoy it a bit more, especially if they gilded more of the marble and brought in a train load of reproduction furniture. Still wouldn't have a golf course, though.

Trump is not, and never will be, the kind of person who can walk the halls of the WH and know that's where they belong.
Because Trump knows he doesn't belong.

(50,557 posts)He doesn't go to Palm Beach every weekend because of the ghosts in the White House, the lack of gold-plated fixtures, the lack of people fawning over him in DC, or even that he'd have to sign his KGB handler into the White House if he stayed there. The truth is worse.
Donald Trump is retaliating against the residents of Palm Beach for the way they've treated him. Read this:
http://www.vanityfair.com/style/2016/12/how-donald-trump-beat-palm-beach-society-and-won-the-fight-for-mar-a-lago
This article describes how Trump got the property in the first place. It is essentially a variation on the Eye-Sore Business described in Edgar Allan Poe's short story "The Business Man." What you need to understand is, Mar-a-Lago isn't beachfront property. It backs up to the Intercoastal Waterway. There's a road and another property between Mar-a-Lago and the ocean. The people who owned the big house didn't want to sell it to a boor like Trump, so he bought the house across the street from it and threatened to build an ugly house that would block Mar-a-Lago's view of the ocean if they didn't sell him Mar-a-Lago. After he squeezed the previous owners down to $8 million he then proceeded to really piss them the fuck off by converting what was always a single-family home into a social club.
As a result, Palm Beach is probably the only place in America that hates Donald Trump more than New York City. They've never accepted him. So...now that he has the opportunity to pay back the Old Money for their sin of not loving The Donald, he's taking it...and them, every chance he gets.

(146,295 posts)seen coming in the White House door. What people? Any people.
Say, Yuri, if you show up at Mar-a-Lago on Wednesday, we can meet on Sunday morning, and you can fly back to Moscow on Monday afternoon. Have your driver drop you at the service entrance and ask for Ernie. He'll set you up, and nobody will be the wiser. I'll drop by your suite on Sunday.
