Republicans making our country a little bit worse every day--death by a thousand small cuts

From Raw Story:

"Republicans in the U.S. Senate passed a measure to eliminate an Obama administration rule that would require prospective federal contractors to report violations of more than a dozen U.S. labor and employment laws.

"On a 49-48 vote, the Senate endorsed a joint resolution under the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to overturn the contractor disclosure rule. The U.S. House of Representatives approved it last month, so all that is left to kill the regulation is President Donald Trump’s signature on the resolution.
....................................

"Trump has signed three CRA resolutions thus far, which eliminated an environmental rule for streams and wetlands, a measure enhancing background checks for mentally ill gun purchasers and a requirement that oil, gas and mining companies report payments to foreign governments. Republican lawmakers have introduced measures targeting more than 30 rules."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, no one has to report labor law violations any more, unfettered polluting is OK, bribery is OK, and the people who get cancer from all the polluting will soon lose their coverage for medical care, or get to buy it on "the free market," in other words, it'll be priced beyond their means.

Trump and the Republicans will have their public scenes over immigration, and there will be headlines about more Syrian grandmothers who get harassed at our airports, and in the meantime, the Republican Party is slowly dismantling measures the Obama administration put in place to make life better for all of us. But these don't make for spectacular headlines. Sure, our 48 Senators voted to the last one of them against dismantling the regulation. They might not have been obsessed only by headline-grabbers, but they certainly weren't asleep at the wheel here. It still isn't enough.

The Republicans are destroying, for whatever perverse reasons, what is good about our county, and what Obama tried to make better. If we can't stop it, we must at least make every effort to make sure that American pay the same amount of attention as the rest of the world. The only way the country will realize that the Republicans are making America worse again is if we and the media tell them. Fox won't. The Republicans sure as hell won't. And we'll die a slow death as as a nation if no one else will.

7. No, the enhancing measure was what the Republicans eliminated

The article's text (the quote you cite) was correct. The enhancement was Obama's doing. The elimination was the Republicans' doing. The article is accurate.

It's almost 9 PM here, and my next cup of coffee will be tomorrow noon in Madrid. Down there, they usually make it so strong, it can jumpstart a corpse.

We need to keep telling them what’s going to happen but the deplorables won’t “see” it until it hits them in the face.

When they’ve been dropped from 45care, or they can’t drink their water like those in Flint or due to the fracking that started down the street. When their local public school closes because too many kids parents chose to spread out to “unregulated” charter schools.

Until it slaps them and it will, they will still follow this idiot blindly.

the newly legal gun owner. In an effort to get away we may slip and fall into a filthy river never to be seen again.

The article didn't say that I could see. However, this is (unfortunately) below-the-radar stuff where waverers on both sides (Collins-R and Manchin-D, e.g.) can show party "solidarity" without too much public scrutiny. Not spectacular enough for Democrats to use the vote against Collins or for Republicans to use it against Manchin in a campaign. Not enough neon to catch the eye of the unsophisticated voter.

6. ameriKKKans did this to all of us

I am so sick and disgusted, enraged actually at the ignorant, stupid, hateful ameriKKKans who in voting for the Terrible Triumvirate and being this goddamn racist in their anti-AA POTUS THINK they are sitting in the catbird seat now. Eight years of a black man running this country has unhinged all the white nationalist/racist so very much. I knew they were out there, just didn't realize that there were so many....in the multi millions.

Always right under the surface and waiting to strike like snakes in the grass. Now we have actual white racists making policy to affect not only PoC but their own kind. But their own kind are to stupid and hateful to care that they will suffer like the rest of us.

Thanks ameriKKKans And I do hate you all and am daily hoping to see you go down in flaming defeat, even if it takes a 2nd American Civil War. With all groups who are anti bannon, miller and their boy-potus puppet, now arrayed in ameriKKKa now, it's like the movie CSA: Confederate States of America. At least there are millions of us, I HOPE.

I have noticed though at least the angry white men don't have much reason to go around shooting up innocent civilians with 3 of their kind ruling the land now. I feel that is why so many started killing during the Obama Years. It will continue in the black and immigrant communities though with all the badge wearing Gestapo with newly emboldened power to kill PoC and the gun toting white nationalist/racists roaming the streets and shooting and killing immigrants. And have no doubts THEY ARE roaming the streets. Anti-semitism is up, open racist hate is up, bigotry of all kinds is slowing rising. All areas where equality of justice and life were making headway against this racist culture are in retreat. Especially since those in our Congress who sometimes had our best interests in mind since the 1st American Civil War no longer really have our backs because they are minority just as we are out here in these mean streets. And seem to have NO power to stop the racist juggernaut rolling over us all. Gerrymandering, my ass. Out and out restricted voting. I feel a little better after this first cup..

I know a guy, used to be a reasonable journalist, an AA man who nonetheless had the patience and the guts to go on Fox Noise and confront the crazies.

Then, he got bitten by the "I-Hate-Hillary" bug and every post he makes is about hating Hillary. No matter WHAT happens that's bad, it's ALL Hillary's fault (or in rare cases, Obama's fault). Look up Garland Nixon. I haven't seen the guy since the 2016 campaign, but maybe that's a good thing. I don't know what's gotten into him. I used to like the guy a lot.

He was squarely on our side, and he is no idiot, and is not out for the money. I have no idea what in the world turned him into the fanatic one trick pony he has become. Seduced by the dark side of the Force, or something.
