RT white-washing iranian oppression to take a swing at US.

What the article doesn't mention is that "freedom" in Iran does not include for women the right to sing.
Yep.
That's correct.
Women are not allowed to sing in Iran. They are only allowed to sing as back-ground-singers for a male lead, not by themselves.
I saw a civilization which, in its depth and humanity, put us all to shame with our ridiculous prejudices and over-inflated bias.
Tell that to the iranian Kurds.
The Iran I witnessed was progressive in that men and women could exist in the same space without any compromise.
(Except that iranian women aren't allowed to sing. Or that people aren't allowed to listen to western music. And that women have to wear the hijab.)
And while you may argue some of the slogans that Tehran has thrown at the world, remember that such calls are directed at systems, not people and that they stand as condemnations against fascism not injunctions for slaughter.
(So when the Iranians are chanting "Death to America" they are not really calling for YOUR death. "Death to America" is a condemnation of fascism and your country's policies. It just sounds like a call to destruction, except it's not.)
Ask yourself this: what made Iran’s Shah such a treasured friend and Iran’s Ayatollahs such dangerous enemies if not the latter’s desire to stand free in the face of imperialism?
(It's really weird that this "journalist" has never heard of either Communism or the Cold War...)

(Yeah... Except for Saddam Hussein killing opponents, gassing Kurds, invading Kuweit... Except for Libya being a socialist dictatorship without any free press... Except for Assad rather starting a civil war than stepping down in peaceful change...)
