If you refused to bake cakes for "sinners" you would go out of business. DemocratSinceBirth Mar 2017 #3

that is why discrimination laws are needed. Which is why I never take a religious person's view seriously. Like that Kim, what's her face, who refused to issue equal rights marriage certificates. Her brand of religion says it is also a sin to divorce, she is on her 3rd marriage. Larry Craig, against gay marriage arrested for trying to solicit men in a bathroom.

I am amazed at their capacity to say God forgives them. Then turn around and tell everyone else what their sins are and God won't forgive them. I call it the self serving Jesus gospel.

That is the key problem with the religious freedom argument that many are espousing - it is an argument not in favor of being able to practice your religion in private or in your church. It's not even an argument that you should be able to bring your religion into the public space (which I have some sympathy for) - it's an argument that your specific brand of religion should trump others beliefs. Your need to practice your religion a specific way should be accommodated, while others who believe differently, well their beliefs aren't as important.

How would they react if a manager fired an employee saying "I understand that your religious beliefs forbid you from providing a cake to a same sex wedding. My religious beliefs require me to only employ people who treat everybody fairly, and you do not meet that standard, so good-bye!"

Instead of a cake, what if it was groceries? Or a prescription?

If you want a private club, start one. Complete with a membership committee, secret handshakes, and vows of homosexual abstinence. I don't care. And I sure won't care when you go broke.

But if you're gonna serve the public, serve the public.

While the bigots and assholes are denying gay people wedding cakes, and all the other things that go with planning a wedding, we should start our *OWN* bakeries, catering and photography companies, and wedding venues that cater *EXCLUSIVELY* to gay weddings! It would make their heads explode! And there's nothing that says we can't do it!
