(14,449 posts)I can't imagine the repugs impeaching him. No other party has impeached their own. Nixon was by democratic congress. Clinton by repug congress. It would be amazing if they did but I doubt it.

(12,164 posts)The Democrats were drawing up the charges, but it was Nixon's own Republicans who could see the outcome and convinced him to resign.

(11,589 posts)I still believe that something SO explosive will happen that he will have no choice but to resign.
He may face jail time even without impeachment -- I think it will be that big.
This cannot sustain, it really can't.

(52,483 posts)even if we capture the house in the midterms, we certainly won't get enough to win a 2/3rd senate vote for removal.
and democrats aren't nearly as into the "let's impeach just for the spectacle of it" as republicans are. so we might not do it even if we do have a majority in the house.
if republicans in congress want donnie out, they'll talk him into resigning somehow. they really, really, really don't want to go through an impeachment process against someone in the same party that their own constituents voted for.

(56 posts)wishful thinking is ok, if it has a chance of becoming reality..these false hopes get us nowhere...EVEN if he were impeached by the house, he would have to be convicted in the senate...aint-gonna-happen. And remember, as I understand it...it has to be for crimes he committed while in office...not before. Our efforts are better spent with donations and organizing, then pie in the sky dreams,(remember the recount?)....
