Alec Baldwin says he might give up his Trump impression on 'SNL'

(CNN)Alec Baldwin might be hanging up his fake tan and red tie.
The actor tells "Extra" he thinks viewers may tire of his portrayal of President Trump on "Saturday Night Live."

"His policies aside, which you can hate, I thought he would have just relaxed," Baldwin says. "The maliciousness of this White House has people worried. ... That's why I'm not going to do it much longer, the impersonation, I don't know how much more people can take it."

Baldwin adds: "Trump just overwhelmingly lacks any sportsmanship, he remains bitter and angry, and you just want to look at him and go, 'You won!'"

It's not clear how long 'SNL' plans to have Baldwin play Trump. The gig was originally supposed to last through the election.
Baldwin may irritate the president, but he has given "SNL" a ratings bump. NBC's sketch comedy show averages 10.6 million viewers an episode if you include people who watch within the week, according to NBC -- the show's biggest audience in 22 years.

Say it isn't so Alec!

There are other characters like Sessions and Spicer that others are doing to take up the slack.

Given that I know he is going to greatly harm most if not all of us and soon, I say do the impression anyway.

And yes, hubs and I absolutely need the comic relief.

That said, I have never cared for SNL, which is 80% gross and juvenile. Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon and some others have been brilliant on the Trumpsters, so it's worth tuning in for the first 15 minutes. Failing that, I'll just look for clips of the best bits here.

I still think he can get a lot more comedy mileage out of the character. There is so much to work with here! Trump is an absolute buffoon - the material almost writes itself. He can't quit now!

thinking they would only need him until November. Not only did that not turn out to be the case, but Baldwin owns the impression so completely now, I can't imagine anyone else playing Trump.

SNL needs to pay Baldwin bigly. Anything to convince him not to give up the character. We need him.

Oh, that crazy Trump, he'll say anything. Can't wait for the latest Baldwin impression.

No, we're dealing with a mental patient and the comedy I don't think is working to say how awful a situation we're in.

Plus, it reminds me and depresses me of how awful a President we have. At some point, it's not really comedy. It's tragedy. I think it's become tragedy.
