Dad charged after 2-month old girl treated for broken bones, brain bleeds

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - A 20-year-old man is now charged with abusing his two-month-old daughter, who was hospitalized with a number of broken bones and other injuries.

Richard Root appeared in Winnebago County court Wednesday, where a judge set bond at $10,000 cash on a charge of Child Abuse Recklessly Causing Great Harm.

Oshkosh Police say the girl was taken to Aurora Hospital and later airlifted to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee.

The girl had suffered at least 20 broken bones, including ribs, legs, and arms.

Police say the injuries were in various stages of healing.

The child also had brain bleeds and bruises on the face and head.

The girl has been released from Children's Hospital and is with a family member.
