Romney Acknowledged His 08 Healthcare Plan Imposed A Tax
FLASHBACK: In what is now a well-known exchange from ABC News January 2008 Republican presidential debate at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire, Mitt Romney declared I like mandates when asked by moderator Charlie Gibson about his approach to health care reform in Massachusetts. But theres another moment from the debate thats getting more traction after yesterdays Supreme Court ruling on in which Romney says yes, when asked is the health reform law he ushered in as governor constituted a tax.
GIBSON: Governor
you imposed tax penalties in Massachusetts?
ROMNEY: Yes, we said, look, if people can afford to buy it, either buy the insurance or pay your own way; dont be free-riders.

(1,301 posts)Romney has one original thought in his head..after the first debate I was in shock the
way he responded with literally "nothing"...that has not changed . I think
someone is sending him out with exactly what they want him to say..no more and
no less...to expect more of him is not productive..albeit a lot of daily surprises for us all.
I would question whether he even knows what was in the Massachusetts Health care
reform when it was passed...I am only basing my opinion on what I have heard from him since he
decided to run for President in this election.
His campaigning reminds me of Sarah Palin's..give them a couple of buzzwords..wind them
up and they go all day!

(9,213 posts)He'll get confronted about this to his face and have to answer to it in front of the American people. I still predict Mitt will become virtually unelectable by mid-October and the Repubes will be scrambling to switch things up.
GWB may have been an idiot but I don't think we've had a major candidate for President recently who has talked so blatantly out of both sides of his mouth as Mitt has. Maybe the Repubes have something up their sleeve, but they HAVE TO KNOW that it can't end well with Mitt in there in November.

(1,301 posts)If there is a semi-sane one in the crowd ,they have to realize how seriously deficient Romney is.
I am so proud to have our President who knows how to
"think(brilliantly in my opinion) on his feet" and execute decisions he makes
so precisely.
You think Romney will "call in sick" before the debates?
I have often thought he might just refuse to debate at all..

(2,307 posts)We don't know how he would fix the economy
We don't know how he would fix health care
We don't know where he stand on immigration
The only thing we know is he hates gays and loves the Cantor Budget.
He seems to be the "trust me" candidate.
