Republicans are counting on Democrats to step in and help repair GOP health care disaster: NY TimesDAVID EDWARDS
12 MAR 2017 AT 15:26 ET
Republicans are openly hoping that Democrats will clean up the mess after they pass a health care law that results in million of Americans losing coverage.
The New York Times reported over the weekend that Republicans are moving forward with plans to replaces the Affordable Care Act even though voters in red states are expected to be hit hard by the changes.
If you ask someone to give up something, there will be resentment, Rep. Michael C. Burgess (R-TX), chairman of the Energy and Commerce subcommittee on health, told the Times. If that claims my congressional career, so be it. It will be worth it to me to have effected this change.
Regardless of warnings from experts that millions could lose coverage, Republicans are pressing forward with the belief that Democrats will one day help fix the mess they created, the paper said.

(3,257 posts)All it does is give them legitimacy. Like when 45 used the heads of Historically Black colleges for a photo op. Resistance and non cooperation is the only way to fight back.

(111,358 posts)This is a PR disaster for the GOP and they know it. They're desperate to find a way out, so of course they expect us to swoop in and clean up their mess, as usual.
Well, not this time. Once more they've put in a moron against the will of the people and this time, they need to deal with him. The people who put them into the majority need to experience what that means in everyday terms. And dammit, I'm tired of seeing Democrats try to fix things and then get blamed for everything that isn't perfect.
Yes, they're going to hurt people. I'm one of the people they're going to hurt, a retiree who is likely to see Medicare B skyrocket while Social Security gets cut. However, I'm so pissed off at this I don't care if it kills me as long as it also kills them.
And that's pissed off.

POS-Calling Monday, no to Ryan.

(3,427 posts)I don't doubt that the Democrats will one day try to fix what the Republicans broke. And the Republicans will attack them at every turn for it.
But for now, the Republicans have total control. If they want to "fix" their health care disaster, they can do it themselves.
