"Roberts Upheld Obamacare Because Of ‘Cognitive Problems’ Due To Epilepsy Medication"

http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/06/29/508761/conservatives-claim-roberts-upheld-obamacare-because-of-cognitive-problems-due-to-his-epilepsy-medicine/

On his radio show yesterday, right-wing host Michael Savage — who has previously called autism a “phony disease” — claimed that Roberts’ epilepsy is the root cause of his “cognitive dissociation” in the Obamacare ruling:
Let’s talk about Roberts. I’m going to tell you something that you’re not going to hear anywhere else, that you must pay attention to. It’s well known that Roberts, unfortunately for him, has suffered from epileptic seizures. Therefore he has been on medication. Therefore neurologists will tell you that medication used for seizure disorders, such as epilepsy, can introduce mental slowing, forgetfulness and other cognitive problems. And if you look at Roberts’ writings you can see the cognitive dissociation in what he is saying.

Wouldn't that suggest that Roberts would need to resign and then Obama gets to nominate his choice? Of course after the re-election of Obama they wouldn't want Obama to have that ability.

Roberts is the Supreme Court head...and no matter what politics is...He deserves respect and his private health matters should be kept private....I hope Chief Justice Roberts somehow can communicate a warning to Savage.

I greatly fear that the crazy gun nuts are going to start to come out and start mowing down everyone who disagrees with them.

Kudos.

Chief Justice Roberts is the head of SCOTUS and, as such, deserves the respect of his office whatever his politics are.

Michael Savage is a fucking dick for for his allegations, fuck it, he's just a RW bitter hatemongering fuckwad.

Which explains why, despite what we might think of his politics, Roberts has risen to the top of an exceptionally demanding field, while Savage on the other hand, remains a blathering idiot.

if the man is medically compromised and unable to do his job, then let's impeach him, immediately. I think the Democrats may go along with you.

We think highly of those we perceive to agree with us. We say they're smart, competent, good-looking, the whole thing. The moment we have some serious disagreement with the other person, however, they're suddenly stupid, unreliable, etc.

Columbus first described the indigenous populations of the Caribbean as beautiful, inquisitive, and intelligent. Then he decided he wanted their shit, and they were suddenly described as ugly, stupid, slow, even sub-human.

You see it everywhere. Even here-- when we start discussing musicians, authors, actors, etc.

I found it well-written and persuasive. Definitely not the ramblings of someone with "cognitive problems".
