What A Fool Believes

What a fool believes is that Donald Trump, who has outsourced the manufacture of all of his name-brand merchandise and hotel accouterments to low-wage countries, is the least bit interested in “bringing jobs back to America”.

What a fool believes is that a man who has been caught in lie after lie is somehow trustworthy, and should be taken at his word.

What a fool believes is that a man whose ties to Russia, while they were seeking to influence our election, are all completely innocent and require no explanation.

What a fool believes is that their coal industry jobs are coming back any day now – because Donald Trump said so.

What a fool believes is that a man who goes ballistic over an SNL sketch is clear-headed enough to have access to the nuclear codes.

What a fool believes is that a man who accused the former President of the United States of a crime – without offering a scintilla of evidence – is worthy of sitting in the Oval Office.

What a fool believes is that an administration that wants to take their affordable healthcare away, while giving tax-breaks to the wealthy, is “on their side”.

What a fool believes is that a man who spends his time “tweeting” inane remarks in the middle of the night is capable of responsibly commanding our military.

What a fool believes is that incoherent speeches, and totally incomprehensible statements, are the mark of an intelligent leader.

What a fool believes is what the pastor of his church told him to believe – that a self-proclaimed, bigoted, racist “pussy-grabber” was endorsed by God himself to lead a nation.

What a fool believes is what they see on FOX-News, what they hear from Rush Limbaugh, what they read from Alex Jones – notwithstanding all evidence to the contrary.

What a fool believes is that a proven flim-flam man is a suitable POTUS, and that he is truly concerned with their concerns.

What a fool believes about Donald Trump is beyond mind-boggling. It has surpassed blind faith and now borders on insanity.

Support for the current administration is no longer a matter of blind faith – it is a matter of Jonestown-like cultism.

The best we can hope for is that the kool-aid proves fatal – and I am optimistic that it will eventually prove to be exactly that.

I hate that fucking song, for some reason. Maybe because it was inescapable during the years when i was stuck wearing awkward, ill fitting suits and dancing nervously with girls a foot taller than me, at someone's Bar Mitzvah.

Now it is stuck in my head. Earworm!

What to cleanse the mental palate? Perhaps a timeless paean to skepticism, and Andy Kaufman.

And no, Michael Stipe is not a moon landing denialist.
