Martin O'Malley we need you NOW!!!!!!

This country is going to be such a train wreck in 2020.... the mess is going to be incredible, when this bunch gets through with running the country into the ground.. But we need you.. We need someone who will be willing to tackle that mess..This is a gosh awful nightmare..Who know what war he is going to get us into...

But I hope you will give it another try.. You know very few people elected this man.. 47 % did not bother to vote and he got less than half of the remaining eligible voters.. My guess is that the 30% or less of eligible voters put this nut job in office.. That means the remaining 70% of us are at the mercy of a madman..

I have to put my faith in the next President.. hope you come back and try again.. and we will have to wade through the next 3 years and 10 months or so.. He has not even been in office 60 days... and look where we are..

Gear up Martin.. we are going to need you

Too nice a guy. We need a street fighter who will knock Trump out. My money is on New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo. That guy knows how to counter-punch. He is pretty ruthless and he will fight hard. A tough New Yorker and a strong Democrat.

Marriage equality (before the SC decision), background checks, raising the minimum wage.

In proposal by him-- early voting, free SUNY tuition for families making under $100K (?)

Thanks for that post. Cuomo is not an ideologue. He is a pragmatic politician who is a Democrat and who will fight for progressive policies and defend his base. He will also reach out and be centrist when necessary.

He is a tough street fighter who can appeal to the Rust Belt workers as well as a progressive base. We need someone tough and smart who can beat up on Trump. We have tried taking the high road with nice candidates. We need someone like Cuomo to knock some skulls and get the job done.

14. Cuomo's problem is charisma

I wasn't eligible to vote for him (or his father) as a native NYer. I moved out of state before he became governor (and was a child when his father was).

I read his book a few years ago and became a fangirl. He may not be a warm, fuzzy guy but he gets shit done. First NY governor in 18 years to balance the budget on time.

Unfortunately he has the charisma of a paper bag. He's not a guy who can easily connect to people.

(he was my ideal candidate for 2016).

Cuomo is kind of rough around the edges, but I do think he has a sort of tough charisma. Certainly not eloquent as his Father was. Still, I think that Cuomo is a sort of tough New Yorker type that is somewhat appealing. He is bright also, but not overly cerebral like some other candidates.

I am not yet "locked in" with Cuomo for 2020, but I would like to see him run. I think he could beat up on Trump really well, and I would like to see a fight between the bad New Yorker (Trump) and a good New Yorker (Cuomo).

I think candidates like O'Malley are a little too wonkish and soft/polite. Cuomo is not just tough, he is smart and has a good sense of humor. I think that he could do a good job of getting under Trump's skin and tear him up a bit. Also, Cuomo is a Governor, and he gets stuff done.

(I was born in the town Cuomo now calls home). And I'm impressed with Cuomo's tenure as governor (definitely better than the fat fuck I have to call governor for the next 9 months).

However, I'm not sold on him for 2020 yet. We just came off a battle of two NYers. It might be time for one of the other 49 states to have someone at the top of a major party ticket. I'm liking Jay Inslee (WA) right now. I'm waiting on Cuomo to start taking the Trump administration to court.

Thanks for your opinion and your post. I am a native New Yorker also. I am assuming from your comments that you are in New Jersey (Christie)?

Anyway, I am originally from Downstate, but I am now in Upstate NY. Cuomo is a strong partisan. He is a bit rough around the edges, but that is fine by me. I would really like to see New York redeemed. Trump is a bad New Yorker. I want someone who can knock Trump out.

I will look into Inslee. I feel hopeful about 2020 at this time. I can't wait for it. We need this Trump nightmare to end.

3. O'Malley tests 2020 waters with Iowa poll.
Thu Mar 16, 2017, 04:43 PM
Mar 2017

'Donald Trump is only in his second month in the White House, but already one Democrat is polling his party's Iowa caucus-goers ahead of a possible 2020 run for the presidency.

The leadership PAC of former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley commissioned a Public Policy Polling survey of the first-in-the-nation caucus state earlier this month, according to a copy of the results obtained by POLITICO.

The poll, which shows O’Malley at 18 percent of Democratic caucus-goers in a field of nine potential candidates if the contest were held today, also asked the Iowans about New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, former Housing Sec. Julian Castro, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, California Sen. Kamala Harris, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, and Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz. “Not sure” got 32 percent of the vote.

O’Malley — who ran against Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders for the 2016 nomination before dropping out on caucus night after earning less than 1 percent of the vote — was joined at the top of the poll by Booker, who was at 17 percent. Neighboring Senator Klobuchar, who's been a frequent visitor to Iowa over the years, got 11 percent. All other candidates were under 10 percent.'>>>

I had the chance to meet Gov O.Malley when he came to campaign for the Democratic challenger to our current Gov... and he just blew me away.. I know I came in here and was singing his praises... but he was definitely a unknown quantity.. and I think that has a lot to do with it.. When people were picking and choosing who they were going to vote for in the primaries.. people just did not know him... But it is different now.. I think people had a chance to get to know him in the rear view mirror so to speak.. they know who he is now..
