I said Roberts voted the way he did to save his court and his legacy. Then I said I thank Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama, and the Liberal SC justices.
What I wanted to say is... The Republicans have been nothing but obstructionists and asshats for two decades over this issue. If it weren't for them, my grandmother would probably still be with us. And then all sorts of expletives went through my head.
I think I restrained myself rather well.

(14,177 posts)My mother died of cancer. I don't know if this would have helped her or not. She was diagnosed in Oct 2006 and died in Jan 2007. I think if they had caught it sooner she would have lived longer, but I don't know. Her care after diagnosis isn't the issue, she was treated. The issue here is earlier diagnosis and better preventative medicine. I think that is what will in the long run make health care more affordable, earlier cheaper treatment and more of a focus on prevention of disease.

(1,721 posts)You're right. We'll never know for certain if having ACA implemented earlier would have saved your mother, but it definitely would've helped alleviate misery for millions of Americans. I'm sorry about your mother.

(14,177 posts)what I think is going to end up happening is if people get a lifetime of preventive care that many disease rates will go down like cancer. As it is now many people are living with conditions that could be easily treated possibly home remedies, but they have no clue to what their treatment options are. In any case even if my mother would have gotten cancer anyway she could have gotten help with a lot of other medical issues and been a much happier person.
