Donna Brazile: Passing debate questions to Clinton camp 'a mistake I will forever regret'

Former interim Democratic National Committee chairperson Donna Brazile has for months been dodging questions about passing along questions to Hillary Clinton's staff in advance of a CNN debate -- but now, she's speaking out and calling the misstep "a mistake I will forever regret."

...

She then addresses the release of Podesta's emails, writing, "Then in October, a subsequent release of emails revealed that among the many things I did in my role as a Democratic operative and D.N.C. Vice Chair prior to assuming the interim D.N.C. Chair position was to share potential town hall topics with the Clinton campaign. I had been working behind the scenes to add more town hall events and debates to the primary calendar, and I helped ensure those events included diverse moderators and addressed topics vital to minority communities."

She further explains, "My job was to make all our Democratic candidates look good, and I worked closely with both campaigns to make that happen. But sending those emails was a mistake I will forever regret."

...

"By stealing all the DNC's emails and then selectively releasing those few, the Russians made it look like I was in the tank for Secretary Clinton," she writes. "Despite the strong, public support I received from top Sanders campaign aides in the wake of those leaks, the media narrative played out just as the Russians had hoped, leaving Sanders supporters understandably angry and sowing division in our ranks."

It was like a teacher giving some kids the answer key and not others.

But I doubt it made as big a difference to the outcome as she seems to think.

Both HRC and Bernie are intelligent, experienced politicians. There wasn't a single topic raised at the debates that came as a surprise to either of them.

No one gave anyone any "answers" here. Do you think that neither HRC nor Bernie KNEW what the topic of questions asked would be, and prepared themselves accordingly?

I am not defending what Brazile did - but let's not act like this was a game-changer in any way. Both HRC and Bernie prepared for what they both KNEW would be the current "hot topics" that would find their way into the questions.

It made a difference in the end. HRC won the primary by around 3 million more votes. It wasn't close enough to have made a difference. Still, clear favoritism hurt dem unity especially among young voters and crap like this is Clearly to blame. The Democratic leadership should never attempt to sway the vote. Glad DWS and this woman got the boot. Not what we need at this time.

If her job was to organize candidate events it's not exactly a stretch to consider that briefing the candidates who expressed interest in coming prepared would be on her to-do list

LOL.

Amazing to me is that no one who posts this has any comment about the Russians hacking the DNC. Somehow the DNC is the big bad who controls everything, but an actual country with the resources to hack our election isn't worthy of comment.
