By Thursday afternoon my steps were still covered with 4 inches of snow...

...and a frozen layer of ice. Storm door wouldn't open. Someone braved the slick and deadly path and step to ring the door buzzard and by the time I looked out they were walking away. Probably just trying to some $ shoveling. They were lucky times two. They didn't fall and I didn't get to say yes. It took 2 days of melting and chopping to clear those out.

I remember that. Metal flags on the fire hydrants to mark where the firemen should dig.
