Linda Preast has used a wheelchair since she had a stroke two years ago and now relies on Meals on Wheels, a service that provides food to millions of people with disabilities and the elderly. The 56-year-old Georgia resident never envisioned when she voted for President Donald Trump that hed propose slashing funding for the programs.
Are you surprised? CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller asked Preast at her home in Jones County Saturday.
Yeah, Preast said. Because he was told ― I was under the influence that he was going to help us.
On Thursday, White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney attacked the service, saying programs like Meals on Wheels are just not showing any results.

(21,568 posts)How could a disabled elderly person who depends on Meals on Wheels ever vote for a non-Democrat candidate? How do they come to a place where they don't understand which party supports social benefits for the public? Where did this person get her information.

The problem is that there are many others that don't deserve the heartless consequences of her selfish and disastrous choice of a President.
The Republican plan is for the types of people who need programs like Meals on Wheels to die. Period. They don't want the cost or responsibility of having to care for the elderly. This poor brainwashed soul will find out exactly what a bill of goods she was sold.

(2,404 posts)....reminds me of something.
Trump is incredibly rich... Yet, he thinks nothing of the poor.
Then I think of FDR. He also was incredibly rich. Yet, he cared for the least of us... The poor... The underrepresented....
FDR was a man of character, a man off compassion.... He was a man. Not a little boy.

(8,000 posts)but he had known bad times. He had suffered. Trump has only created suffering without ever knowing any consequences. It doesn't bother him a bit to hurt people.
WiffenPoof
(2,404 posts)FDR did suffer. However, I think he would have demonstrated the same compassion and character mostly because of the way he was brought up.
JFK is another example of someone who came from a privileged background but still understood that there were people who were truly needy.

(165 posts)She was under the influence that screwing over minorities would make her life better. And she went in for the kill with her vote. And now it backfired. If trump actually took minorities down and helped her in the process she would be very happy right now.
Do not show these people pity or sympathy. Let them suffer.
