Rural Georgia Trump voters railed against Obamacare - but just realized Trumpcare will be worse

Rural Georgia Trump voters railed against Obamacare — but just realized Trumpcare will be worse

http://www.rawstory.com/2017/03/rural-georgia-trump-voters-railed-against-obamacare-but-just-realized-trumpcare-will-be-worse/

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution profiled many rural Georgians who stand to lose if the president signs Trumpcare.

Kenneth Peek, a Georgia farmer, who is now on Obamacare, thought Trump would get things “straightened out.” However, he’s now understanding things might get worse. Under the proposed law, thousands of rural Georgians, who voted overwhelmingly for Trump, stand to lose their health insurance or their hospitals and, for many, their costs will increase.

Peek currently pays $281 a month for his Obamacare policy, which is $3,372 a year. He gets $11,172 in government tax credits, while his wife is on disability. Under Trumpcare his tax credit would drop 64 percent to $7,172 and there’s no real way of knowing how insurance companies will drop premiums or continue the upward climb. While Obamacare gave subsidies based on need, Trumpcare will give tax credits based on age. So, a 50-year-old CEO who makes $850,000 each year would get the same amount as a 50-year-old teacher who makes $35,000 each year.

During the 2016 campaign, however, Trump promised voters “good coverage at much less cost” and “a much better health care plan for much less money.” This week, Trump was singing a different tune.

The republicans are the abusers, and the voters are the abusees. All the classic signs of an abusive relationship are there. The GOP has held this country hostage for the last 40 years and demonizing anybody that isn't them. They all but finished the job this year. How much more of the abusers' shit are we going to put up with before we say enough is enough?

...and Trump is still going backstage to "inspect the merchandise."

The attitude he had toward them is the attitude he has toward America.

Trump bragged that he walked in on naked beauty pageant contestants
“You see these incredible looking women… I sort of get away with things like that.”

https://thinkprogress.org/trump-beauty-pageants-naked-2dc4b6c6d507#.smzggmbms

On an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in 2005, published on Sunday by CNN, Trump described going backstage at the beauty pageants while the contestants were undressed. “Before a show, I’ll go backstage and everyone’s getting dressed, and everything else, and you know, no men are anywhere, and I’m allowed to go in because I’m the owner of the pageant and therefore I’m inspecting it,” he said. “You know, I’m inspecting because I want to make sure that everything is good.”

“You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. ‘Is everybody okay?’” he continued. “And you see these incredible looking women, and so, I sort of get away with things like that.”

According to interviews BuzzFeed News conducted with former Miss Teen USA contestants, Trump did just that in 1997. Four women who were competing in the pageant that year — including one who was 15 at the time — recalled that Trump walked into the dressing area while they were changing.

One of them called it “shocking” and “creepy” and said she rushed to cover herself. Another recalled that the contestants were “just scrambling to grab stuff… whatever garments they had.”

If it actually dropped BY 65%, the correct number would be $3910.20

If it dropped TO 65%, it would be $7,261.80.

The campaign pitch can't be all that difficult, and even the lowest information voter will get it: The Democrats got you health care insurance at $281 a month, even with a disabled wife. The Republicans want you to pay a lot more, and they would greatly prefer that your wife die before sucking up any more health care benefits.

Think a town hall meeting or two in that District might not find a more receptive audience for the Democratic platform?

If you look at ANY "red" Facebook page and read the comments, too many people are still on the Trump train.

The ONLY Facebook pages I follow are Fox and Hannity, and that's only because I want to know how Trump is being spun and how Trump voters are reacting to it.

The responses are often too crazy to post here, plus it would break the "don't spread right wing talking points" rule.

I don't go anywhere near Breitbart, Info Wars, etc.

My gut is telling me that too many Trump voters are writing these things off as "fake news." When more of them actually feel the impact, when more of them join the "You LIED to me" chorus, they'll be looking for an alternative. For many of them it will be too late, but the ones left standing won't be thinking "second term."

And yeah, when it all blows up, Trump will blame Obama for all of it. He'll continue to make wild accusations with no basis in reality, he'll keep a "provocative" news cycle in perpetual motion, and he'll keep making those weekend trips to Mar-a-Lago.

you believe the blue parts will be magically exempt from the pain and suffering. Here in GA many of those "rural parts" are heavily populated by very loyal Democrats. They are also going to lose their healthcare, their small community hospitals, their foreign-born physicians, and their safety net. And the urban dwellers will lose the agricultural products they depend on from these rural areas.

The choice is obvious: one side is helping them, the other side is quite literally feeding them into a meat grinder for the benefit of a handful of super-rich. Surely, after they suffer enough, they will see the error of their ways, right? Nope. Liberals have been giving themselves false hope with this nonsense for generations.

These peoples' votes weren't determined by rational self-interest; they were determined by culture and identity politics. No matter how badly Trumpcare screws them, they will blame the Democrats and the minorities and the big-city elitists. There is no way they will begin voting for the party that supports gay marriage and poor Mexican immigrants and hot lunches for poor "urban" (wink wink) schoolkids.
