People will suffer no matter the outcome. I suspect he and Ryan and perhaps even McConnell think if they can squeak it through with some minor adjustments that expire after 2020, they will keep their jobs, due to calling it a 'win" and lying about its effects. Plus blaming Obama and Dems for something, anything, to scrape together enough gerrymandered votes to get thru 2018 and set the stage for 2020.

I hope it fails, but not for our political reasons, just that it is cruel.

There's plenty of time and opportunity to tar the rest--like Drumpf's so-called budget.

and "no" votes on Repeal of Obamacare, one of his pet projects.

So much winning? I don't think so.

Hmmm....tarring Republicans v. saving lives by defeating repeal & replace.

This should not even be a question on a progressive board.

People also assumed that Trump would lose. We can't risk people's lives on political games. Every vote has to be treated as if it was the only vote on the matter.

my question was merely a hypothetical. And from what I've heard, it's almost certain not to make it past the Senate. But the more I think about it, I think it would be extremely damaging to Trump to have this fail the House. So I hope it never even makes it to the Senate.

That thing needs to be stomped flat at the very earliest opportunity, and sent back to where it came from in teeny-tiny bits with a note reading, "never do this again." I don't think we'll be hurt by the GOP putting the thumbscrews to Trump, because there will still be a lot of Republicans who vote for the damn thing and that Aye immediately turns them into a target.
