Members of the Donald Trump transition team, possibly including Trump himself, were under surveillance during the Obama administration following November's election, House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes told reporters Wednesday.
Nunes said the surveillance appears to have been legal, incidental collection and that it does not appear to have been related to concerns over collusion with Russia.
Nunes is going to the White House later Wednesday to brief the Trump administration on what he has learned, which he said came from "sources."

(13,903 posts)So the transition team was under surveillance......not the foreign actors on the other end of the communications?
and it had nothing to do with Russia and it was legal?
So if that was true.......what other criminal or national security investigations were they under?
and finally since Nunes was on the transition and may have been and maybe still is under investigation........why is he still chair of any committee?

(149 posts)It was incidental collection and it was legal under a fisa warrAnt. I believe that means that the people being surveilled were NOT US citizens. Probably Russians, given the context.

(7,813 posts)looking for bargaining chips. If they can come up with an impropriety or perceived impropriety, team Trump (including Nunes) can negotiate better deals, better propaganda, better balance of Committee time spent and less time on Russia links, better shaping of evidence, etc...for when the sh#t hits the fan.
They have to keep alive some notion of Obama and FBI wrongdoing...they have to keep alive confusion, gray areas, muddled facts, etc. This is what the GOP has done for decades...no clear facts or resolution, just confusing issues.
There's a big battle coming and they are setting the stage.

(51,129 posts)Mark my words, they are working in concert to cast fault on Obama so they can upend the evidence collected. They know how bad the evidence is, they know they are guilty as charged, all they have left is to get the evidence thrown out on a technicality and to create a prejudicial view in the public mind of the investigation itself as Obama's political crime. No surprise Jeff sessions is AG, in AL they stole an election from Don Seigelman and threw him in jail too. These Rovians do not play fair, they play politics is warfare and the end justifies any means, especially if the end make you the final arbiter of what is justice.
