(12,676 posts)1. Only so much as Guliani's group has influence.
I don't think the NYC branch has much to do with the Foreign influence investigation that is tripping across Drumpf's staff all over the place. And Comey doesn't seem to be helpful to the White House any more.

I remember Trump putting Bannon head of NSC

(9,313 posts)3. Bannon manipulation probably not through NSC, but through DT appointment power
The Administration has the power to fill many jobs at justice. You can bet Bannon is involved in deciding who gets these jobs. The types of positions filled by appointment are:
Noncareer Senior Executive Service Jobs
Schedule C appointments
Presidential appointments without Senate confirmation
Presidential appointments with Senate confirmation
The "Plum Book" lists "United State Government Policy and Supporting Positions". You can filter jobs by agency and appointment type here: https://m.gpo.gov/plumbook
I've listed the positions within justice that look like they could potentially have some involvement (and therefore be well-placed to manipulate) There are lots more jobs filled by the administration, but I excluded titles for positions that are clearly unrelated.)
I don't know how many of these jobs the administration has actually filled, or how many would actually be in a position to manipulate things. Reportedly DT is absurdly far behind in making appointments, but I'm guessing getting "their" people installed at justice is a high priority.
Noncareer Senior Executive Service Jobs
---------------------------------------------
Chief of Staff and Counselor (1 position)
Deputy Chief of Staff and Counselor to the Attorney General (2 positions)
Counselor to the Attorney General (4 positions)
Principle Associate Attorney General (2 position)
Associate Deputy Attorney General (7 positions)
Deputy Assistant Attorney General (3 position)
Schedule C appointments
------------------------------
White House Liason (1 position)
Confidential Assistant (1 position)
Presidential appointments without Senate confirmation
-----------------------------------------------------------------
None of these titles appear to be positions that could muck with investigations.
Presidential appointment with Senate confirmation
------------------------------------------------------------
Positions requiring confirmation (aside from AG, Deputy AG, and state US Attorneys):
Assistant Attorney General (5 positions)
Assistant Attorney General Criminal Division
Assistant Attorny General Legislative Affairs
Associate Attorney General
