By that I mean against the teabaggers.
They got beat today, not by Democrats so much as by the extremists in their party. To be sure, they deserved to lose on this bill to take health care away from millions.
The teabaggers cost Boehner his speakership. Today they hobbled Ryan and 45/140.
In my dream world, Democrats could find common cause with more reasonable Republicans to improve the ACA. The better it gets, the more permanent it becomes.
If we can find that common cause, it might be possible to work with them to get rid of the teabaggers - who hurt them even more than they hurt the country.
I know. I'm probably dreaming.

The rich in health, help the poor in health--just like Jebus would have wanted it (and we're not gonna sell it unless we get liberal evangelical pastors on board...no more church bake sales for local cancer kid, Rich Uncle Sam has got that covered for you cause he's a stand up guy, that Uncle of yours).
If the Republicans had half a useful brain between the House caucus, it's exactly what they would have done...repealed Obamacare and replaced it with the only thing better..Public OPTION Medicare, and they would have stayed in power for the rest of their unthinking lives, President Fuck-up be dammned.
They dropped the ball on this. If we don't pick it up and run it, we deserve to lose the game.

(53,339 posts)LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) Looking for a little Mercy, Mercy Me at the post office?
A new bill introduced on Capitol Hill is calling for a U.S. Postal Service office located at 4040 West Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles to officially be designated the Marvin Gaye Post Office.
Introduced by California Congresswoman Karen Bass, HR 1496 would require the South LA facility to be referred to by that specific designation in any law, map, regulation, document, paper, or other record of the United States.

(9,265 posts)Reach out to the "Tuesday Group." Some of them really were concerned about how the travesty of a bill would affect their constituents. My congressperson, Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA06) said he was voting no because of the opiate addiction problem in our district. Whether he actually would have done so, who knows. But I was shocked to hear of an R actually putting his constituents before his party. Not that I'd ever vote for him, but still.
The parties working together for the good of the country *actually happened* years ago before the destructive Hastert Rule. It would really look good (if nothing else) for our side to make the first move. Let them say no.
